Great Terra Cotta Planter/Rain Barrel
Just ordered my 4th rain barrel from Woodland Direct and can't wait to add it to the other 3 I ordered several weeks ago. Our house is white stucco with a Terra Cotta roof and these rain barrels with planted flowers look so amazing, our neighbors think they are real pottery. Just ordered the 4th one to go beside our outdoor kitchen because of the standing water in that area. I noticed since we have had so much rain, the gutters on the side of the house ususly have standing water but since we have added these rain barrels, no more standing water. These do have to be drained after a 1" rain - our roof is large and "L' shaped as the house has almost 3,000 sq. ft.. The water I have drained has been used for plants and shrubs that grow under the 4' overhangs on the house. Just got my water bill and it dropped $15.00 for the month. Some reviews say they had problems with the water pressure coming out of the barrels so, the had to build a platform under the barrel in order for the water to drain. But, our barrels sit on the sidewalk and the water pressure is really strong. They have also stopped water from coming into the basement which has been wonderful. We just love these barrels and wish we would have purschased the a long time ago. They have not leaked as other reviewers have said. The only thing that has happened and it was my fault because I never read directions - during a very heavy rain, I found the planted flowers being overly watered to the point, some almost came out of the planter. My husband punched a hole where the flower drain is to open it up and no more problems. It took him less than a half an hour to install all three barrels. These are just amazing and when our quest house is finished getting restored, I will be ordering more for it. Thank you, Woodland Direct for a great product and great service.

Get Several...
An elegant barrel but... I decided to order another rain barrel for our veggie garden...the last one I ordered came with a defective spigot where the drainage hose is connected. After several tries to fix it the barrel leaked and did not hold water. I emailed the company asking for suggestions how to fix it because I wanted to keep the barrel (a similar purchased several years ago works great). The company sent me another barrel. It looks great in our backyard-garden and it serves its purpose very well. We have been lucky this year with unusual precipitation and I am planning to install two more barrels, this product from Woodland is fairly priced, make sure that it is completely cleaned before winter season storage and it should last you for a long time. A small suggestion to the manufacturer is to install a quality spigot to go along with this nice barrel.

Looks like terra cotta, very nice
We live in North Florida and usually get a lot of rain. I purchased this just before "Debby--the tropical storm". With 23 inches of rain this barrel got a good test. We are very pleased with the barrel and after reading the post about leaking at the spigot we sealed it before using it. I have peppermint growing in the top, looks nice. We put a longer hose on the barrel and put orange pavers under it to raise the barrel up a bit to give better water pressure. We use it to water raised beds that are close by. We had just installed gutters and need 6 of these but will go with something a little cheaper on the gutters that don't show from the front of the house. I am ordering one more of this type. Our house is Cedar so the terra cotta look is nice with the wood. Very easy to set up and very light weight. : - )

Lovely and works great
I get more compliments and comments on this rain barrel than I would have ever thought! Some reviewers commented on the spigot leaking, but I have had no problems. Also the short hose with it has worked well for me, no kinks. It will kink if you bend it too far, but I simply located it where that wouldn't be an issue. It looks like terra cotta from the road and still looks nice up close. The shape is just right - classically elegant. Sits flat on my deck. Rain water is soft, and when our water to the house was out a couple of days, we used it to wash our hair and didn't need conditioner! It's perfect for rinsing out cans for recycling, washing hands before going inside, and watering plants. The screen in the funnel area catches stuff before it goes inside the barrel. Overall I love this and want to get more. I'd love to see the same thing but in a variety of shapes.

Cute But Nah ... pass on this one.
Well I really wanted to love this rain barrel and everyone notices it and compliments how it is pretty it is and what a great idea. But that’s where the good ends. I wish I could call the factory and ask them if they realize they’re drilling way too huge holes for the hose holder (say that 5 times fast lol) I mean it’s great until it’s not. The hose holder clip is supposed to go in the hole and stay there to hold the hose because if the hose comes out and hits the ground - water pours out everywhere. And then there’s the top tray thingy. What in the world were they thinking? Oh yes the pics with the flowers look great alright but no. It’s a cess pool up there and every mosquito for miles is using it as their nursery. The water sits in the top tray doesn’t drain. It’s gross. I just can’t on this. Moving on - the hose it comes with attaches on the front to a plastic screwed in spigot that leaks. Replace it with a brass one. But for some reason the hose holder clip is on the side and not above it?? Why? Nobody knows. All in all it’s a cute looking plastic drum but one that’s Terribly Designed. - this is not your rain barrel - believe me- keep browsing.

Beautiful Rain Barrel - Spigot Leaks
Purchased this item for the front side of my house and was pleased at its appearance from the get-go. It came with the spigot installed, all we had to do was alter our down spout to empty into the barrel. The container is pleasing to look at and really does look like a terra cotta urn. My neighbor thought it was actual terra cotta until I told her otherwise. We rated this items a 3 out of 5 due to two issues. (1) The spigot leaks at the insertion point between the spigot and the barrel. We will need to purchase additional supplies to rectify this problem. (2) The hose that comes with the barrel kinks and prevents good water flow unless you pinch it back into shape and hold it in place while filling up your water receptacle. Overall, we're happy with the look of the product, but the design flaws need a few tweaks.

Got what I expected.
Product looks and functions properly. It's plastic but doesn't look too "plasticky" in my opinion. The leader hose that comes with it is cheap and kinks easy. But don't let this detour you. Just go to Target or Home Depot and purchase a good one for just a few bucks. I read reviews that the plastic spout is problem some or otherwise a p.o.s. While it is made of plastic, it works just fine for me. I only wish the barrel was a bit larger. I have 3 connected to my downspouts, and they fill up quite quickly. AND! I have a really small house AND! I live in Los Angeles where it never rains. So, while I think these are the best looking rain collectors, and they do function properly, I wish I had gotten larger ones.

Beautiful look and functionality!
I bought two of these to place on either side of my front door. I do not have gutters on the front of my house so I made some rain chains to route water into the barrels. Since most all of my plants/flowers are in Terra Cotta pots these barrels blend in with my decor and color scheme. Since the spout is low I placed the barrels on top of cinder blocks to elevate it to be able to place a watering can under it. In Florida we are prone to hurricanes so I am looking forward to not having to buy bottled water ahead of time when the power goes out and to have fresh water to feed my plants during the heat of the summer.
