The best steel cut!
I've tried many brands of steel cut; this is my favorite. Great texture and so good for you. I soak mine overnight and make an oatmeal bake with almonds and blueberries. Yummy! My daughter uses the cans for her art supplies.

This is the ONLY oatmeal you should eat - and it isn't more expensive because....
I used to buy this at Walmart but they don't carry it anymore at my local store. When they stopped carrying it, I tried every other kind of steel cut oatmeal out there. None of them compare. And while you think McCann's is more expensive - it is not - because the oats expand more. Instead of 3 cups of water to 1 cup of oats, it is a 4:1 ratio. I usually let the oats sit overnite in the water and then they cook quicker next day. I add 1 cup of dried cranberries in right before it has cooked to the right consistency. Then, I scoop some out for breakfast and I have enough for 3 more breakfasts - just heat up and eat (I put mine in the microwave). Oh, sometimes I cut up an apple or pear and throw it in. I can't rave enough about how delish this is!!! And, of course...healthy

This is not your grandma's instant oatmeal.
This oatmeal has a distinctive flavor and texture. Half a cup cooks into about 2 cups of porridge. I have a rice cooker with a specific setting for steel cut oats, but I still have to wait an hour while it cooks.

This is the best oatmeal.
I am a huge fan of steel cut oatmeal. I love the texture and the taste. Regular oatmeal is just too much like mush for my senses. I have used multiple different brand, but none matches the high quality and consistency of this brand. The oatmeal is a large grain with great flavor and consistency. It cooks up into a delicious meal that does not suffer from poor grinding techniques. The only thing I do not like is the ecological issue of a large steel can. I have called the company and requested a bag or pouch container that is less toxic to the environment. They inform me that no such option is available irrespective of the amount ordered. So, I love the product, the steel can package is beautiful, but a waste.

Great oatmeal Poor shipping packing
The oatmeal is great & fresh. Loses a star because packaged without enough padding and crushed the biscuits in the same package. Oatmeal lost lid in box.

Wonderful product. Poorly handled by Amazon
This is wonderful Irish steel cut oats, non-GMO, non US pesticides, much safer to eat. They are expensive compared to oats purchased here. They are worth it. You would think that $10 a can that Mr. Bezos could pop for a little bubble wrap or packing paper to keep them from banging around in the box and getting all dented. Was the money you got back on the tariffs not enough? The Irish seal the cans with tough material so even if one of the lids did come off no oats filled the box. Several of the shipping boxes from Amazon have looked "drop-kicked" lately.

QUALITY OATMEAL!
I like real oatmeal, not dry little flakes and this is it. Very tasty and yet full of fiber. Good as winter is coming to fill those little bellies and yours. I have been purchasing Mccanns for years. Quality oatmeal.
