Best car-contents cover and "stealth curtain" material for vanlife, car camping, etc.
Second time I've bought this, I love it. Throw your hatchback/SUV cargo cover bar and roller shade arrangement out. Replace it with a thickness or two of this stuff over what's in your car, and all your prized stuff in the car becomes invisible blackness. I also use it as a curtain behind the front seats of my car, for when I'm sleeping in the car on road/camping trips. Black out the back windows, not the front. That way, it just looks like a car with nobody and nothing in it. Any cover/reflector/curtain on the windshield or front-seat windows, gives away that you're in there. Knock, knock, you can't spend the night here. Empty front seat, nothing visible in back, you're good to go, unless of course your alleged "stealth van" is decked out with roof vent, solar panels, cargo box, ebike, and YouTube vanlife stickers. In a plain-Jane hatchback like my Prius Prime, you can park/sleep pretty much anywhere once your interior is invisible due to liberal use of this cloth. The "curtain rod pocket" on this also fits a big aluminum ruler that can flex up to the roof of your car, much better than a solid, straight curtain rod.

Love the Backdrop!
The backdrop came in the brown box. It was square and when I opened the box I thought the backdrop was a little thin for a quality backdrop. I opened it up and took one glance and new it was going to be a horrible quality backdrop. It looked thin and see through so I tossed it aside for later. Later on, I thought to myself I wonder how big it really is so I took it out of the box and noticed that what I was examining inside the box was not the backdrop! I was so surprised! It was a carrying case for the backdrop! It also came with a key chain and a small cloth of some sort. When I took the backdrop out of the protective bag I was surprised at how sturdy it was and the quality of the backdrop. It is very wrinkled when you get it out of the box but that is to be expected from being folded. I still used it with out ironing or steaming just to see how it would look (test photos). The black does show dirt really easy and lint likes to cling to it. I’m not sure how you’d go about cleaning this backdrop? There is no specifications listed on Amazon. The delivery was very fast and got to my house in about 3 days. I’ve very happy with this backdrop – I may end up getting a bigger one of these in the future since I got the smallest size.

A bit wrinkly to use, yes, but with some careful work it can be wrinkle free and make great a background
As others have stated, this backdrop does tend to get pretty wrinkly, I will admit. When it came in packaged I decided to wash it - probably shouldn't have done that, because once it finished and I dried it in the dryer, boy was that thing more wrinkled than ever! I had to use a steamer to get wrinkles out, but even then the wrinkles still stayed in a little bit until I held the cloth with some muslin clips. Then the wrinkles practically disappeared. This backdrop however, does indeed turn a pure white when properly exposed. You'll most likely need to have at least a 2 light setup, with the backlight 2 stops higher in order to flush out the background, but it is possible. Even when I was using an AlienBees B800 with a 64" Plm Extreme Silver with Diffusion Fabric, I was able to flush out the background and still manage to keep my subject well lit. Yes, the initial wrinkles of the fabric does take time to remove, but for 34 dollars it's not exactly gaberdine. As far as see through goes, I've uploaded a couple pictures to show that the fabric is not really see through. My definition of see through is that if I can clearly see someone moving in the back and it shows in the picture, it's not usable. Yes, if you have a light in the back, say, a lamp light or ceiling light, it will show through, however when you take a picture with a strobe, it does not affect the picture at all. Tips for removing the wrinkles: Iron it Steam it Wash it then hang it out to dry When placing it on the backdrop, use clamps to keep it taut on the pole. You would probably need 3 at most (1 on each of the ends and one in the middle) to keep it up, and 2 if you only have 2. Finding a wrinkle free fabric this size is a bit hard, but for this price I had already expected this, so I give it a 4 stars.

Nice backdrop and does what it was intended to do.
Nice backdrop. As other's have stated it is not super thick but pretty good nonetheless. It will not black out a window with light coming through it if that was your intention. I personally needed it for a wide shot rather than a standard photo shoot so I asked a friend to sew pockets 2 1/2 inches wide on the top and the bottom of this backdrop. I than ran metal conduit inside of those pockets, one to hang and the other to keep the backdrop stretched. --- Update --- Wow! So I get a call from the company asking me why it was only a 4 start review and what they could do to make the product better. Not and email or message but an actual person took the time to call me and ask my opinion. That's just insane now a-days. This company has totally earned my respect and after explaining why they are using a thinner material (my only gripe) it makes sense to me now and I have up'd my review to 5 stars. If I need another backdrop I know where I'll be buying from :-)

funy new rectangle shape?
The product sides are not exactly parallel... It is not a 9 x 9 but more like a 6 on one side, 5.5 on the other and 9 on one side and 8.5 on the other... but it is black and muslin. =) ***update: I have now used it for several month in my studio and I found that it is too small for full body shots and just about the right size for head shots. I also found that in terms of "lighting it up" as a backdrop with a bit of light, it does not look nice. Paper backdrops get a nicer color change as a result of the back light.. this one turns light brownish under light--like faded black. Not nice at all for portraits! So I pretty much stopped using it completely. So I changed from 4 stars to just 3. *****update on 6/11/2012: I have received a call from this company telling me that they will compensate me for this product! So I am changing my review to 5* to reflect a responsible company that stands up for their mistakes and are willing to correct it. So, with this thought in mind, I highly recommend you give them a try and order their products. After all, they truly stand beside their quality and will make it right if you are unhappy!

Decent product for the money
My husband and I are advanced amatuer photographers. We do mostly wildlife, nature and landscapes. A good friend asked us to do maternity and newborn photos. We thought that this backdrop would work well for a "low key" light setup. The material is thin and comes folded with heavy creases. It is not very big so probably won't work well with multiple people full length. It will work nicely for portraits. We were able to iron and steam out the creases and now it looks good. I attached this drop to a stand so we will not have to refold it. (When doing low key lighting, the creases won't be seen anyway.) We set up our lights, umbrellas, reflectors and wireless flash unit. We made many adjustments to light position, reflector and umbrella position and camera and flash settings. Finally, we got it right and have nice photos of the couple and the baby bump. This backdrop plus a "low key" setup worked very well for us. This backdrop is inexpensive and with some ironing and steaming can be made to get the job done. This would be good for photographers who need an occasional black background. I attached a practice photo of my husband and "Phoebe"

So pleased!!!
Love my backdrop! I ordered the blsck one and it's the perfect size for my headshots I take of my makeup work. I set up in my home and didn't have it in front of any type of window or anything and noticed it was slightly see through. I messaged customer service about it and they responded incredibly fast! They shipped me out another backdrop without me even asking ask suggested I double up. Absolutely free! It arrived so fast. Just in time for my huge client rush that weekend. I'm extremely pleased and definitely recommend. The material is cotton so it's going to get pretty wrinkled. I just took an iron to it but a steamer would work best. I'm so happy with this purchase. Definitely recommend. I included a picture of my clients headshots in front of the background. Hope this helps!

This is very decent material for a black backdrop
I just received this today. When I opened the box, what I first saw disappointed me!! I saw black material with a SHEEN! HOWEVER, upon pulling it out of the shipping box I discovered that what I was looking at was the storage case! Very neat! I pulled the material out and see that it is VERY close to the light absorption you'd get with black velvet... but not exactly the same. STILL, I have no doubts whatsoever that this will fit my needs. I'm taking a mini-studio with me overseas to Asia in a few days, complete with compact 7' light stands, three speedlights, two 45" umbrellas (Photogenic Eclipse), a 42" x 72" and 24" round collapsible reflectors, and this background. After I place all this "stuff" in my 30" upright luggage, I will still have PLENTY enough room for 5 full changes of clothes and most of my personal stuff... My other luggage is a 28" upright and will hold everything else... except for my camera equipment which I will bring on board the aircraft as my carry-on backpack (Think Tank's Airport Antidote 2.o) This background is VERY compact, yet appears to be of high quality material. I'll write a full report on this backdrop as soon as I return in January.

a lot of cloth for the money.- best supplier I have found!
For the money you cant go far wrong with this product, the exception being it is woven, so a light back ground will show through. It is huge, but very creased, being stored in a bag, so if you have one of those things to hang it on, you will need to iron or steam it, (caution if the iron is too hot it could go shiny), I keep the subject far enough away so that the creases don't show, or I'll use software to select the black background, erase it, then put another solid black layer in its place. It also came with a led key ring, (very useful) and a lens cloth. It lost a star for light from behind getting through. EDIT 19/02/15 Well, how about that, the manufacturer and supplier of this takes time to read revues of their products. They contacted me and explained they take peoples opinions seriously, and as I was concerned about light showing through, they would send me another, so that it may be doubled up to prevent it happening. Not only that, they sent an upgrade to larger the 10' x 12'. Their products have a lifetime guarantee, and having spoken with the manufacturers, I believe it. They contacted me again after the delivery, to check I had received it, and it was in good condition, which it was. Any problems contact them and they will do their best to help. For this they get the fifth star back. I for one will certainly look out for Prism products again. Amazing

Good quality backdrop at a reasonable price. Recommended.
The packaging was more than I expected, it came in a case along with a small LED button battery type light and a microfiber glasses cleaning cloth. The black backdrop was fine, it needs to hang, or be steamed, to get out the folds. For the anal crowd, it's not quite 6' (72") x 9' (108"). It's actually 68" x 110", a little smaller on one dimension and a little larger on the other. The material seems to be of more than acceptable quality for use as a backdrop. I'm happy. It arrived much earlier than promised.
