This is a bit of an expensive ironing board cover, but it is made of exceptional quality, and once you get working with it, you can easily see the level of craftsmanship put into it. This is not a run-of-the-mill cover that you'll see in retail stores, but is rather an extremely well designed cover that should last a very long time while helping improve the ironing process. The cover is made of a semi-reflective outer surface with a substrate beneath it to give the cover a bit of body. The outer layer is designed to efficiently reflect the heat of the iron while also making the smoothness of the surface nice for sliding both the iron and fabric across it. The cover affixes to the board by use of a nylon string that runs around the perimeter of the cover. You simply lay the cover over the board, then gently pull the string until the entire cover is taught. You then use a supplied clasp to secure the strings in a taught position, and then use the supplied rubber strap to further secure the center of the the cover. It's not difficult at all, and results in a nice fit. You just have to make sure you are ordering the correct size for your board (I measured mine with a tape measure and then selected the model with the appropriate size for my board). One thing that you need to be aware of is that this cover is not sufficient to be used on its own. It is too thin and has insufficient padding to work alone. You will need to use a felt or similar pad beneath this cover. If you need a new one, Brabantia also makes a really great quality viscose pad that is specifically designed to work in concert with this cover. I would be tempted to give this four stars because the price is a bit high (especially when you add in the pad, if you need a new one), but the quality and performance of this item make it a five star rating in my thinking. (I had the same feelings for the pad, as well, and came to the same conclusion). Highly recommended.

Warning seems a strange title for a 5 star review...but I must issue the warning nonetheless. My cover arrived with a broken adjustment cord, or it had never been secured, so when I began pulling the cords at the front of the board, they began sliding out of the cover altogether. Perhaps had I not been talking on the speaker phone I would have noticed the problem before the cords were almost halfway out. As it was I needed to dig out my knitting supplies and a large eye needle so I could re-thread the cord into the cover. Then I had to tie off the broken ends of the cord. When I tried to use the band that comes with the cover, it caused the cord to come undone and I had to re-thread a portion of it a second time. So be sure your cord is in one piece or has been tied off at the square back end before trying to fit the cover at the front. So why a 5-star rating you may ask...because this cover fits my board the way the Polder cover never did. Once the issue of the broken cord was resolved it was very easy to adjust the fit of the cover...which is wrinkle free and ready meet my iron. I was wary from reading other reviews, but I was desperate to find a replacement cover for my no-name 2002 Walmart(?) wide ironing board. The original cover was a natural colored twill with a foam backing. However, the foam backing was dried out and falling through the surface's grids...had to find something but nothing in the stores fit my 48x18" board. Good ol' Amazon--I want to rename you Amazin'! This cover is superior to my original because it has the silvery slick surface for ironing and the padding is better than my original board's. I love my board because it's wide and very tall. This cover, although it fits up to 49", still adjusts snugly for my 48" board. The "shoulders" are at the exact right place--though because the cover has a drawstring closure, it should fit boards that taper at different places than mine. Note that the cover has little perforation holes which I didn't realize, but seems fine. I was certain from others' reviews that I'd need some sort of additional pad--but NO. This is fine all by itself to prevent any grid marks from coming through. (what are you guys ironing on--sheepskin?!) I was also worried that this "upscale" brand cover wouldn't work with my good old Walmart board--but it's perfect. It also comes with a little rubber band type bungee cord. I didn't really need to add it, but didn't want to just throw it out, so I did. I think most people will be very happy with this product and am SO glad I overlooked some of the negative reviews. (and it came in 2 days!)

After 15 years of use I wanted a new cover for my Brabantia ironing board and thought the grey one might be better at hiding future stains. The stain-resistant part of this review will have to wait a while, but in the meantime I'll give my thoughts about the rest. First of all, the grey cover initially had a funny feel to it...kind of a tacky rubber-ish feel, and my iron didn't glide over it the top of it like the old ecru cover (which was a muslin type fabric). I think it may have just needed some breaking in though, because it seems to be getting less 'tacky' the more and more I use it. Yes, the foam padding is quite thin, but I use an added cotton pad that I made from quilt batting so it's not an issue for me (it may or not matter for this review but I rarely iron clothes, 99% of the time I use an iron only when pressing fabric when making quilts). The cover fit perfectly and was easy to put on, even with my extra pad under it. I like the plastic clip that makes it easy to tie off, and the additional clip that makes it fit tight near the center. All in all I like the Bratantia covers though they really do need thicker pads, or ones made of cotton instead of foam. I would probably buy one again, but only time will tell if it would be an ecru or grey one.

Amazon reacted incredibly quickly!!!! I have just got the second replacement tonight. Again, many thanks Amazon. I greatly appreciate your efforts. However, it’s nothing to do with Amazon though, this product is just bad and looks terribly cheap so that we would only waste our money on nothing. If it were like 10 bucks, I think I would compromise it’s quality though. The first one was simply defect and the second one was with big brown stains. I leave my review about the first review. Hope it will help you: I have just got a replacement. And this time there are BIG DIRTY STAINS!! How disappointing!!! The first one was defect and another string didn’t move at all. It took me more than 30 minutes to give it a try. In the end, I figured out that it WAS kaput from the very beginning. The second one looks like used for ages and there are huge, looks-like-burned dark spots. The product seems like as if it had been stocked for decades. At least, Amazon reacted immediately after complaining about the first one. And the new one was delivered two days later and I was very happy about their quick reaction. Amazon does care about us!! Well done! However, it makes me extremely frustrated and disappointed that even the new replacement was not in a perfect condition to offer consumers in general. I have never experienced something like this before. I have been using Brabantia products for uncountless years and was always completely satisfied with them. Indeed, I am one of their loyal customers. They used to symbolize “QUALITY”. However, this product itself is poor. The material is super thin and looks cheap. BUT it’s all about good wills and sincerity. Those represent the entire company, which are more important than just its quality. It took me a plenty of time, money and above all huge disappointments after being delivered twice in a row. Time is money and we cannot buy time. Nevertheless, all the bad experiences now, big thanks for your efforts, dear Amazon!

I was concerned about this cover but figured that I would give it a try-especially since the price was so reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It fit perfectly, was very easy to install and I love the silver material. Early reviews had complained about the thinness of the padding so I just left my old cover on and put this new one over it. It worked like a charm! I am so glad that I didn't splurge on the $50 one from a well know retailer. Ironing is a breeze with my new cover and my Rowenta steam iron. Don't hesitate to order this from Amazon!

What can you say about this pad, the quality is good. Its a teflon covered with micro perf holes throughout the pad. I actually was not aware that it was micro-perfed. I ideally I would have preferred it to be fully teflon less the perforations. I do have to say that it is holding up well and allowing the steam to penetrate through the item being ironed instead of being reflected off the cover up toward the iron and ultimately your hand. I think its fine, hope it lasts at least a year.

I was concerned that this cover might not fit my Rowenta ironing board, but it fit beautifully. I even left the old cover on for extra padding. The wonderful thing about this cover is the reflective surface. My iron just glides over it! Whether I iron with or without steam, this is a big improvement over any cover I've ever had. As a quilter, I iron a lot of fabric and pieced blocks. It's much easier to get good results now and I don't have to bear down to make the seams lie flat. I highly recommend this product.
