Steve Spangler's Large Plastic Test Tubes & Rack, 6 Bottles & 1 Rack

I like these. They are well made and handy. The caps take a little getting used to, but once you understand how they work they are great. If you want to shake something up without spilling, then you need to screw the caps way, way down. That's what takes getting used to. As you screw the caps down you hit a place where they feel petty tight... But, they are not yet tight enough to stop from leaking when shaking. And then you discover that you can screw the caps down some more until they definitely stop tightening. Part of this is just breaking in the caps, they are a bit stiffer at first but become more pliable with use. But if you look at how the caps are made you will see that there is a point where the end of the test tube is rammed into a groove in the cap and that is really what stops the leaking, but it takes some effort to ram the test tube into the groove. They are not glass, they won't break. On the other hand they probably don't take much heat or a Bunsen burner, so their use is limited.

I needed test tubes for water samples for a college level class. These were perfect, so much so that the instructor kept my project for his office. Very easy to use, sturdy, the stand holds everything perfectly and it is just a very well made product. I recommend.

I used this for a science-themed party decoration, so can’t speak to its function for other purposes. The plastic tubes are clear and thick. They held liquids and were transparent. The rim of one test tube was chipped when I took it out of the package, but the cap still screwed on. The caps are soda bottle caps—pretty cheap, and not what I expected, but they screw on just fine. The stand is durable enough.

I unboxed what came in the mail and set up the rack. All looks good.

Super cute and it comes with experiment ideas. The tray could be a little sturdier but I’m happy overall

The stand is just the right size and easy to assemble. The tubes are sturdy plastic and the lids screw on like a 2L soda bottle. Which is great when my son mixes things and shakes the tube to watch it settle again over time

Nice sturdy test tubes, I use them for soil tests. The rack holes were too small for the large plastic test tubes in this kit. I used a drill & hole saw to open them up. Not pretty but it works.

I used this in my classroom (science teacher) to hold tiny, fuzzy spheres that different class periods could earn in classroom competitions. It was nice to have a rack to display the tubes so the students could see their progress. I did not use them for experiments or other similar activities.
