Great product for when you need a cold pack.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Used these for a while and they work great and last a long time. Easy to use and carry with you for when they are needed.

Best, least expensive, instant cold pack BY FAR!
As a former varsity volleyball player and currently an avid outdoors person, I have been using cold packs when necessary for years. No instant cold pack can compare to ice cubes in an ice bag in terms of the amount of coldness or length of time the coldness lasts; however, there are times when you can't immediately get ice cubes and/or carry your ice bag (or your ice bag leaks during a 3-hr flight -- that was fun, especially for the next traveler assigned to my seat). That's when it's more than handy to have an instant cold pack -- it can literally reduce the pain of an injury, animal bite or insect sting, just to mention a few uses. I have tried just about every instant cold pack available -- big box stores, pharmacies, online, you name it -- and with one exception up until now, they are pretty much worthless. There are ones impossible to activate, ones which harden like a rock if you store them in your closet for less than a month, ones which are barely cool when activated, ones which are the size of postage stamps, ones that don't even stay reasonably cold for 10 minutes. Up until I discovered the Dynarex Instant Cold Pack, the only one I could depend on was the Ace Instant Cold Pack at $7.67 for a twin-pack on Amazon (much more at my neighborhood pharmacy). That comes to $3.83 apiece. I bought the Dynarex 5"x 9" instant cold packs in a box of 24 (yes, twenty-four) for less than $20 delivered. That comes to $0.83 each. I checked each pack in the box and all are just fine. I have used them and they easily activate, they are generously sized (larger than the Ace) and the cold lasted at least 1/2 hour. I can highly recommend them. No, I wasn't given any external incentive to give this great review; my internal incentives were 1) to help other people find a portable, easy-to-use, handy and really decent quality instant cold pack and 2) to give a shout-out to a great instant cold pack manufacturer who deserves it.

Great for on the go relief
Iโm recovering from a pretty sick injury, and while Iโm walking fine, I sometimes fine myself in immense pain. The only problem with this is that I work in sales. While Iโve minimized the amount I have to go out to the office on calls, I still have to go and visit my clients, and while I drive everywhere, itโs still a bit of added movement on my knee where I canโt necessarily always afford it. While with a client, who luckily is also a friend, my knee was feeling so terrible that I had to sit there for an additional hour because I was in so much pain. Luckily, my buddyโs intern ran out and got me one of these ice packs and wow. It worked like a charm. You just smash the pack and it gives you instant relief to your pain. I bought these online (wow, so freaking cheap compared to in store) and started keeping them in my trunk. Itโs made a huge difference in my daily work life and I even use them at home. While at home, I do some of the exercises my physical therapist requested I do at home, then ice my knee, and then top it off with a bit of this ThermaChill Pain Relief Roll On Cold Therapy, 3 fl oz. - Top Choice for Arthritis, Migraine Relief, Joint & Muscle Pain - Limited Time Offer: Buy 1 Get 1 Free! stuff that an ex bought for me. It works great because it cools and warms the pain until Iโm able to fall asleep. At any rate, definitely buy these packs even if you donโt have an injury, theyโre so convenient and easy to use.

2 hours of very cold water in a well sealed packet.
It's fabulous for a different reason than I bought it for. Good: 1.easy to use and store 2. Affordable...Most health products break the bank for chronically ill people 3. Very cold Bad: 1. Short lived...maybe 2 hours of cold if your lucky 2. Cannot be used as an ice pack replacement (for swelling or headaches or injuries) basically it's pointless and useless for its intended uses 3. Misleading...uses and time it lasts I bought these for headaches and swelling for which it is useless. However, I have an illness that causes my body to be in a constant "fight or flight" mode which causes extreme Temperature problems. I n need really hot or really cold, if it's in between likely 78 degrees my body rapidly come cycles from sweating to freezing and back. Relief comes From extreme scorching showers or ice cold showers or ice packs etc.... anything to tell my body what temperature it is to stop the cycling. These are fabulous for that purpose!!!! Wayyyyy easier than showers and wayyyyy easier/cheaper than making big ice packs. So I love them. But I sure wish they were cold enough, cold for 5-6 hours/ more gel like rather than liquid so I could use it for headaches and swelling.

Great product not good for targets
I Am with you mate i bought 2 boxes of this "ammonium nitrate" but when mix with aluminum powder and shot with a 7mm or ak 47 does not explodes. there is two options this might not be PURE 100% Amonium nitrate OR! My aluminum powder does not work or is not dry so to prove that i just order brand new aluminum powder to give it another try if it does not work i am pretty sure the manufacturer added a sustance to prevent the product to be explosive, the reason it makes me think that is because i have bought in the past this same product and it has work REALLY GOOD! but all of the sudden does not work now. i have experience using this product as a cold pack because i got burned with my ak 47 accidently touch the hot barrel so i apply one of this cold packs and it works AWESOME! really cold and it does the job really nice that is why i am rating it 5 stars but for as long as explosive targets goes this didnt work for me hopefully it was my aluminum powder will see as soon i get my new aluminum powder i will be rating it again in the mean while i already order another brand to see the diference if you are intending on using this product as a target thanks for reading. if you want this product fot is original purpose IT WORKS GREAT

Cool But Not Cold - Was Hoping For Better
I'm not entirely satisfied with these cold packs so I'm giving 3 stars. Pros: They're conveniently sized and not too expensive; they get cold instantly. Cons: They get cold, but not super cold - so, more like the temp of a bottle of water coming out of your fridge as opposed to the temp of an actual ice pack from the freezer; besides not being very cold, they don't stay even that cold for long - 15 mins passes and it's like having a cool water balloon on you; they're super poofy and sloshy - meaning there seems to be a lot of air inside, so the liquid moves around a lot - it's not like an ice pack that will just sit in place because it will form to your neck, shoulder, knee, whatever - it's like trying to get a balloon, filled with 1/2 water and 1/2 air to sit still. Also, and this should be apparent, but I'll point it out anyway - condensation forms on the outside as soon as it cools down and they're just plastic so they're slippery and wet - if you don't like that, you'll need a towel or something to wrap them in - but then, the fact that they don't get very cold comes into play and in 5 mins or so, you won't feel any cold through a towel. So if you just need something for a quick cool down - maybe to sooth a headache for 10 or 15 mins - they're fine, but that's about it.

Fantastic cold packs
First of all, these things are quite a deal here on Amazon. Most instant cold packs cost more than $1 per pack. So that's already a great thing. Secondly, they WORK. I've had plenty of instant cold packs where you're supposed to squeeze and rupture the inner pouch, and you're sitting there mangling this plastic pouch because you're not sure if the inner pouch has ruptured or not. Absolutely not a problem with these. It's incredibly obvious when the inner pouch has ruptured, and it's simple to do so. No more calling over your buddy Hercules because only he has the ability to pop the inner pouch without breaking the outer one. Cold lasts for upwards of 20 minutes, which is also a pretty good plus. I am mildly worried about how easily the inner pouches might pop, though. I'm wanting to throw a few in my softball bag, and I don't know if they'd survive it. I'll find out, though. Definitely going in my first aid kits.

Great product
I use quite a few disposable cold packs in my volunteer work and had been getting a nationwide drug store chains private labeled product. I thought that I would give these a try after doing a fair amount of research on these types of products. I have only been using these for a few weeks now but I am very impressed with their performance so far. The price is right and I love the free shipping from BP Medical off of Amazon. They activate easily and seem to stay cold for a good 15 to 20 minutes, which is about the time that you would want someone to ice an area of their body in one session anyway. It would be nice if they would come with a protective sleeve as the drugstore brand has started to do to provide protection from direct skin contact, which is very convenient, but that is a minor point. I would highly recommend this product.
