The Little Scale That Does It All
This review is for: Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale, Original By: Ozeri Store ==================================================== When my last kitchen scale gave up the ghost I tried going without for a while but measuring cups just don't give the accuracy and consistency needed for dry measures. I found that to be especially true for measuring flour. My understanding is that's why cooks used to sift flour before measuring. Scales are much easier and are much more accurate. Also, I don't know anyone who has a flour sifter in their kitchen unless they inherited one from their grandmother. Ok, getting back on track... So I started searching Amazon. With nearly 90,000 mostly positive reviews at the time of this review, I settled on this one. And it didn't disappoint. I love this scale. It does everything I need, but I'm just an average and occasional home cook. For my needs it's very accurate, providing consistent results for my sourdough habit. However, like many scales it may not be accurate when weighing items of just a few grams. For those small measures, don't place your items directly on the scale as currently shown on the product page. Instead, place a plate or bowl on the scale, tare it, and then add the few grams of product to your plate/bowl until you get the desired amount. I read that recommendation years ago and it seems to work for me. NOTE: This tip likely harks back to the days of older analog scales that utilized springs, although I've read that some digital scales still have springs. It's very small so can fit almost anywhere in your cabinets, and is easy to clean. It measures in pounds, grams, ml etc. - whatever you might need. BATTERY SAVING TIME-OUT FEATURE The one negative is that out of the box it shuts down after 2 minutes of inactivity to save batteries. That caught me by surprise a couple of times mid-measure as I was reading recipes, resulting in some bar-room language escaping my mouth. Grudgingly, I resorted to reading the flippin' manual to see if the time-out feature could be controlled. Turns out you can switch between a 2 minute timeout and a 5 minute timeout by pressing and holding the two control buttons (Unit & Tare) at the same time. Problem solved. -- You'll need to repeat this step when changing batteries! I highly recommend this little scale!

Get This If You're Looking For A Digital Scale!
In need of a digital scale, I was originally drawn to the ones with a large, flat surface. However, I was intrigued by this one with its smaller footprint, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love its simplicity. I don't want needless settings and features (to break) and I don't want it talking to me lol. There are two buttons on it, one to choose among 5 measuring units (I use the oz or gram) and the "Tare" button, which turns it on, off, and resets to zero. Don't be deceived by the scale's smaller surface in the form of a disc. There isn't one thing I've been unable to measure. If necessary, I can place a bowl on the disc to make weighing certain things easier. I've also used reusable plastic containers. Another handy item to use if you can't place something directly on the surface (or simply don't want to) is a coffee filter. I've used those to weigh cheese and chicken, then just toss them. If you need to weigh liquids, any measuring cup will fit on that base. Just remember to place whatever container you're using on the unit FIRST, notice its weight, THEN hit "Tare." This will reset it to zero so the holding item isn't factored in the weight. (Even toweling or coffee filters have weight.) Another nice thing about this is that it used 2 regular AAA batteries. I don't like button batteries because I find them hard to insert/remove, and they're more expensive, so I was happy that this unit doesn't use them. The display is very basic, with no blue backlight, for those that want that. The numbers, however, are large and it's still easy to read. And what a value at this price! The unit is intuitive and user-friendly, but the instructions are comprehensive for those who want to look them over. I was in the market for a scale, and NOWHERE did I see a selection as large as Amazon's. If you need a simple digital scale, get this one! You won't be disappointed.

Accurate, Reliable, and Built to Last!
Iโve been using this Food Scale for years and it has never let me down. The quality is top notch and it feels solid and well made compared to other kitchen scales Iโve tried. What really stands out is the accuracy. It delivers precise measurements every time which is a game changer for baking and recipes that require exact portions. Switching between units is quick and effortless making it super convenient. Even after many years of regular use it still works perfectly without a single issue. This scale has definitely earned its place as one of my most reliable kitchen tools. If youโre looking for the best quality accurate and long lasting kitchen scale this is the one. Highly recommend 5 stars all the way.

Amazon purchasers seemed to really like the scale
This review for Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale - chrome or silver ZK14-B, 4-6-18. I purchased this scale based on America's Test Kitchen review as budget kitchen scale recommendation. I found other pro type reviews recommending same digital scale, finally, Amazon purchasers seemed to really like the scale. I have owned this scale for about 1.5 months, use it almost daily. My main usage is for weighing ingredients for homemade bread and other typical kitchen ingredients for food prep. I had a similar scale (diff mfg) a few years ago, this one seems to work better. 1st reason I can easily see the read-out display even with a large mixing bowl on the scale. Even though the old scale looked similar the display was tucked further back not allowing an easy view. Pros โขThe readout seems responsive and almost instant to give a weight. โขThe size is decent not too big or small โขDisplay readout is good, however, would be nice if back-lit โข(g, lbs, lbs:oz, oz, ml) is all you need for typical kitchen usage โขTare feature works well, helps keep cleanup to min because you can pour several ingredients in the same bowl, just hit tare after each to zero out, and you are weighing the next ingredient. โขSo far battery life seems good. Cons โข The 2-minute auto shutoff is very frustrating. It would be nice to be configurable. โข sometimes the buttons seem to require a precise touch in a certain spot, then other times doesn't seem to matter. โข 10ths readings are important on more than an oz. It would be nice to have a tiny light when the weight goes over 1/2 increment ie gram 4 - 5 at 4.5 light comes on when at 5 off until hits 5.5. I understand that to get such a fine weight amount for grams means higher cost, but adding $2 for that half point light would really be worth it. So far I have not tested with certified weights, however, one thing is sure, the results have me looking for certified volume and measuring of cups, tablespoon, teaspoon, 1/2 and 1/4 tsp. Why? Because, not one tablespoon, teaspoon or even cup measurement tool I have, for volume when ingredients weighed matches, ingredient weights listed by Manufactures and other information sites on ingredients weight. All in All, I like the scale, would recommend it to a friend or buy as an inexpensive gift for someone.

This is a GREAT Scale and would highly recommend it to anyone!
I am loving this kitchen scale! The price was so great, I was wondering "How good could it be"? I chose the all silver one and it looks great! Very, very lightweight, so it's extremely easy to handle! Came with batteries plus ONE EXTRA! I am doing the Weight Watchers SmartPoints diet, so this bad boy has worked perfectly for it! I didn't read the directions, and just immediately started using it. Without reading the directions, I found out that if you press the on button while your item is on the scale, it will save and display the weight once you take off your item. This is a FANTASTIC feature, as if you have a large plate on the scale, it may be hard to see the display (which happens to me often). As you take your item off the scale, the numbers will go down, looking like they are going away, but then the weight amount pops back up and stays. And I believe that amount stays till you shut the scale off, although I haven't left it on for a very long time to find out. Not sure how long each battery lasts, as I haven't had it for long. But I do use it daily and it is still going strong. Just be sure to shut it off immediately after using, and I'm sure it will last a long time! And hey.. an extra battery comes with it too. One little tip for those who may just put the food directly on the scale. I'm one to avoid extra cleaning if I can, so what I normally do is weigh the item that I am preparing my ingredients on (normally a paper plate), then as I add the ingredients and weight them, I just deduct the oz. of the plate. Voila'.. no having to clean the scale. All and all.. I think this is a GREAT Scale and would highly recommend it to anyone! Lightweight, easy to use and handle, pretty silver (brushed chrome look) color, very accurate weight (as I've tested it out with the same item multiple times), and easy to clean.

Small food scale that can work within two decimal points...
I bake bread at least once every two weeks, sometimes a little more frequently based on consumption, and always got at least a little bit frustrated with the difference in the size of the loaves and boules. We have limited space in our kitchen, due to the size of it as a whole, so we put off buying a kitchen scale. After baking bread the last time around I decided that it was time to look to see if a scale could be found that would be small enough for storage, while still offering functionality to measure the weights as precise as possible. I looked at a few of the different scales available on Amazon and was definitely not interested in getting one that relies on a watch battery and also wanted one that didn't round the numbers up. This Ozeri Pronto has a small profile, uses two AAA batteries (which were included with the scale) and is precise within +/- 0.1%, based on the testing that another review for this product was able to determine. This Ozeri Pronto food scale was used for making both English muffin and Black Canyon sourdough breads. The English muffin bread was broken in to two loaves and the Black Canyon bread was broken into six parts. This time around I made three loaves, using our new Freshware CB-104RD 6-Cavity Mini Silicone Mold for Soap, Bread, Loaf, Muffin, Brownie, Cornbread, Cheesecake, Pudding, and More and broke the other three into another six parts in total to bake with ham and cheese stuffed inside. I noticed two aspects about this Ozeri food scale, which I don't see as an actual issue, but thought I'd mention. The first is that when I was changing the bread and the tare weight was zero it turned off in less than two minutes, as it felt like it took me about 30 seconds, but could've been a minute, between removing the one dough and had to stop before the other was almost placed on the scale. Basically, you'll want to make sure that any and/or all of the items that you plan on weighing are very much at the ready, otherwise you might need to turn it back on and set the tare up again. The other thing to note is that the ounces appear to change in increments of 0.03, which can make it almost impossible to get a truly precise measurement, but is still pretty close. For the first time since baking homemade bread, all of the various loaves had basically the same pre-baked weight and came out looking approximately the same size too. This Ozeri Pronto food scale works well and I look forward to using it for years to come. If you're in the market for a food scale to use while baking, then this is a good scale to purchase. Very happy with the Ozeri ZK14-S kitchen scale.
I researched various kitchen scales because I'm just starting to mill & bake my own bread. Had years of experience with quick breads out of a box, beer bread, homemade zucchini, banana & pumpkin breads but always felt making homemade yeast breads was a bit intimidating and time consuming (did not want to fail). I'm also going to introduce ancient grains as I progress for healthier breads. I noticed many recipes are in metric and I don't have the inclination to learn to convert in my head (in my USA culture & growing up we don't use metric but from research I get that it is suppose to be more accurate although I don't recall ever having an issue using our traditional volume measures). The Ozeri digital scale had every feature I wanted for my first scale including a great price of $11 (in case I didn't like it or as sometimes happens the product breaks in short time frame) and a bonus feature. Sometimes the Amazon reviews can leave one bewildered as to what to really expect. So far I'm glad I chose the Ozeri. I can't review its longevity yet but these are the features that helped me decide on the Ozeri A. Goldilocks size (just right! Not too big/too small). There is already enough stuff taking up counter space. B. Goes to 2 digits on OZS, some reviews said it only went to 1 digit (yes I'm going to be using grams but I still have a gazillion recipes that use traditional measures). C. TARE function - awesome. I wouldn't buy a scale that doesn't have TARE feature. D. Good response when adding ingredients, can lag a second but seems other inexpensive brands are the same or worse. E. It holds/displays the value for 2 minutes by default. Bonus: instructions say it can be set to hold for up to 5 minutes (not verified). That is nice option for those days I'm not operating at peak baking organization. F. Has rubberized feet to hold in place but still movable (not suction cups to battle with). G. MAX Weighing over 13 lbs. Not sure I will need that much unless I get really good at bread baking. Others stop at 11 lbs. Like it when a product offers a little extra. H. Easy to use. Two control buttons. Can move through the various Units (6 total) and it remembers initial value. I. Large display although the Units can be hard to see (probably more a function of my eyes than the scale) as you scroll through them. Not a show stopper but if I graduate to a new scale that will be on my want list. J. Uses 2 AAA batteries. I'm grateful power plug not required, small counter space and few accessible outlets. K. Great price. L. 1 year warranty. Hopefully won't need to verify. Offers another year but kinda gimmicky/phishing so I won't be getting it. But I get it, it's marketing. M. It comes in various colors. i dont care unless the only color available is one I don't like. If anyone is still reading and cares I got the silver/black. It's early days but right out of the box I'm happy I chose the Ozeri Pronto. Also it shipped very fast (2-3 days) and n shipping damage.
