Hot food in 10mins
I was not very confident when buying this lunch box after seeing few low rating reviews about it but i gave it a try and so far i have used it for a week, very happy and satisfied with it. My office has about 15 microwaves but it is not enough for us. Our lunch time started almost at the same time at 12:00 pm, you need to wait to your turn and then wait for the food get heated. From my cubicle to breakroom is far. It always take me about 15minutes to have my lunch so I have only 15mins to eat. I ate in rush everyday until I think about an electric lunch box after seeing some clip on media how people cook food in their office. I searched Amazon and saw this product. I have not tried to cook rice or raw food with it but I think I will work well because it is very very hot steam one. I always cooked at home and pack food to work. Before my lunch 10-15minutes, I plug in the lunch box then I can get super hot food to eat. It save me times and food quality is good and healthier than warming food with microwave, after microwave food loose water and get harder or dryer but this lunch box work like a mini steamer so it does not dehydrate food. The important thing is you must remember to pour water to the base before starting warming the food otherwise it does not work. This one is a safe feature I like, it turn off itself if no water so it prevent unexpected fire due to over heat. Be careful when opening the box, it can burn your hand,it very hot. Because it work like steamer so water vapor come out when opening the cover but it is not a surprise. You just need tissue ti wipe out. I enjoy my lunch everyday now and have no rush or stress on time to have lunch

This is my favoritePerfect for someone seeking a little portion control and a portable hot lunch.
Perfect for someone seeking a little portion control and a portable hot lunch. I'm using mine mostly around the house, but it worked well when I took it to work too. I love the portion control. I really like preppy 5-ish days of lunch, plopping it in the steamer and having something delicious to eat in 45 min. It's easy to clean (though depending on what you cook, you may want to oil the stainless steel pan bottom). When I carry stuff, I use the plastic cover, but it is not leak proof. You have to be really careful to keep everything upright if there's any sauce in the pan. Also a little bit of steam leaks out from the steamer while cooking, so it can create a small puddle with longer cook time. Lastly, the clasps of the electric steamer take some getting used to. It all has to line up and settle just right before it will snap closed. I've cooked rice, tofu, eggs, and vegetables in here to so far. All of it has been really delicious. I really enjoy this gadget, and it's even been perfect for dinners where my husband just wants a meat and starch but I want to make a personal serving of vegetable. I think it's excellent for travel or home use.

It's a Knockoff Itaki; Still Works.
Note: This is NOT an Itaki, it's a knockoff. Probably has cheaper materials, but it's half the price and still works. I haven't had any issues with it. I wouldn't recommend actually trying to travel with this thing or trying to use it as a "lunchbox", but as a little mini steamer it works just fine. Good for a dorm, single person kitchenette, etc. I've made soups, curry, rice, and other stuff in it without any issues. Takes some getting used to, but it's a decent and cheap addition to a small kitchen.

Good but fragile
There's no "fill line" for the water, so you'll probably overfill and it will leak water all over the floor. Worth it? Kinda yeah! It steams anything from rice, to vegis, meats, to even absurd things like cakes. I like to put rice in one compartment and vegi+meat and seasoning in another so the flavors soak into the vegis/meat. And it basically takes care of itself so you can go to work, plug it in, add the water, and go do whatever without worrying about it burning or what have. The handles on the top break off easily though, and the plug is very subject to wear and tear if you keep unplugging and replugging it.

Great for travelling!
This light weight steamer is great for travelling because its light weight. Not really durable enough for everyday use. The auto shut off does not really work it keeps boiling until steam water is gone then shuts off and cooks plastic housing until it breaks . However , it does cook small servings of rice and vegetables well. Heats quickly. Latch is difficult to secure BUT , it is very lightweight and I really like that all the components that touch food are stainless . This was 2nd one I purchased because I let the unit boil itself out of water to very auto shut off . Returned the unit that cracked its housing and self destructed, because the cracked housing let water spill all over heater and shorted out. However 2nd unit is still working.

Great idea, didn't work
I read the instructions, packed my lunch, took it to work, reread the instructions, set it up, and nothing. It didn't get hot enough to boil the water to make steam. I'm going to go home and watch some videos and try it again. If it doesn't work I'm going to return it for a refund.

Couldnt be happier!!
I am in LOVE with this lunch box. I couldnt be happier with this purchase. I was a little hesitant because it wasnt an actual itaki brand but i am not dissapointed. I have had this a couple weeks now and have made tons of food from the standard chicken, rice and vegetable to banana bread blueberry muffins, pizza from scratch and enchiladas from scratch. I will say the plastic is thin and cheap and sometimes the lid doesnt go on perfect and I have to push it a little to get it to sit in the groove but I dont care because it works well. It is a steamer and everything you cook will get wet for sure, so stuff you dont want moist like breads i always tin foil before I cook. I havent had any problems and I use it every day at work. I keep a dry washcloth under it while I am cooking because when I open it to check on the food or pull the food out there is a lot of water on the lid and it gets the counter quite wet and I certainly dont want to accidentally get my paperwork wet, but the washcloth works well for that problem. LOVE THIS LUNCHBOX!!
