These casters work great for mobile 6-inch jointers and 13-inch planers
Floor-standing 6-inch jointers and 13-inch planers both need a base of nearly 2 ft x 2 ft. A handy lumber to use for a base is 5/4 (actual thickness = 1 inch) deck planking, which is heavy & strong yellow pine - and inexpensive. The 1-inch plank thickness works well with all the 1-inch #10 screws used. An 8 ft plank length is marginal, but they also come in 12 ft length (usually straight, but check). A 250 pound jointer can be outfitted with a base without ever having to lift it. Screw & glue a 3/4-inch thick x 1-inch or so wide runner along the inside bottom of two appropriate lengths (about 2 ft) of plank. Five 1.5-inch #6 or #8 screws should hold on their own if glue bond not strong. Tip the the jointer over until more than half of its housing length is resting on the two opposite runners. Use a rubber hammer to tap the two runners on their sides to keep containment, and tap them length-wise until they line up at each end ready to have the front & rear planks attached. Use 4 heavy gauge outside corner braces needing six 1-inch #10 wood or sheet metal screws each. If you mount the bottom of the caster wheel plate 1.75 above the frame bottom, the frame will clear the floor by 3/4-inch with wheels down, and rest solidly on its own legs with wheels up. (Keep focused on which way is up for the caster frames.). Be sure to leave a little room near the runner endpoints so that the jointer legs can reach through to the floor when wheels are up. The operation of lowering and raising the wheels is reasonably easy. The caster wheel assemblies come with everything needed, complete with lock washers and 24 1-inch #10 screws. Great product! A planer stand can be built with 2x3 legs, a 3/4-inch plywood top on a standard 1x4-inch board top frame, and the same 1-inch planking bottom frame. Screws of appropriate length can be used to secure the 2x3's to the upper and lower frames There are many mating surfaces in such a stand, and these can be glued & screwed to give strong stability with wheels up.

Was skeptical but pleasantly surprised
I was a little skeptical on the design but with Amazons return policy I gave it a shot and was surprised at how well they work. They send a pattern for easy installation and they work flawless. Very very pleased with this purchase. Included all the hardware plus spares and extremely rugged.

Instructions are lacking, but good product
My first complaint, the instructions are rather vague. They don't really tell you how to determine what height from the floor you should install these at. However, with just a little experimentation, I realized all you have to do is attach the wheel, place it in the locked down position, and then put it on the leg of the bench you'll be mounting it to. Next, place the wheel however far below the bottom of the foot you want it to go and make your mark. If the bench is already built and you can't do it that way (like in my case), still put it in the locked down position and place it against the leg. Make a mark above the top of it. Figure out how high you want the legs lifted. I wanted 1.25" of clearance. Move the caster and measure down from the mark you made and make a new mark. That is the new top location for the mount. Simple as that. However..... Second complaint. The instructions were clear about using the screws and how to attach the wheels, etc, but I guess they're assuming we all have Herculean muscles and will be doing this with hand screwdrivers, and that we have extra long drill bits (to drill pilot holes)....or maybe they assume we are smart and will use a drill to insert the screws but we have some crazy long philips bit, because the two plates get in the way, and there are no steps saying to remove them. The small plate the wheel attaches to can be left on, but the big lever needs to be removed for ease of access. And really, they're both easy to remove (10mm nut and bolt) so just remove them both and you will have a MUCH easier time installing that mounting plate. Enough with the complaints, because really they are minor. They are just about instructions and ease of install. What about the actual casters? These say they will support up to 600 pounds. I don't know that for sure, but I know they will hold 500 because that's how much my bench and all the crap sitting underneath it weighs. The hard part is getting the wheels down. With this much weight, it was difficult because I couldn't just stand on the lever and push the wheel down. I had to lift the bench and push the lever at the same time. Once locked into place, though, it stays put. Rolling around is REALLY easy!! We're talking one handed effort and my bench moved easily. Changing the direction of travel was surprisingly easy as well. Overall I'm extremely pleased. Had it come completely disassembled and with an instruction comment on how to figure out mounting height, I would have given these a five. I have another bench and I will be buying another set.

Good for rated weight not more
Work good on my table saw but not so much on my work bench. Itโs metal and heavy. The wheel bracket bent under to much weight.

Easy to use
These casters are fantastic! I installed them quickly and easily with the supplied template and retainers. I installed them to a heavy bench. With the six hundred pounds capacity they are stable. As a cripple it's important for me to be able to move tables and benches easily. I can raise or lower the casters with my cane. They lock in place with ease. I can easily move this bench with one hand. Even when I have a couple hundred pounds of extra weight on the bench. Being able to move it with one hand makes it much safer for me. I'll be putting these casters on everything.

Perfect heavy duty wheels
Heavy duty. So far they are working great on a chop saw table I built out of scrap wood. Very heavy 2x4 and 3/4" plywood construction. The adjustable wheels work great. Easy to lift and return to the floor. Wheels move smoothly.

Nice
I just installed these on a small metal lathe. They work awesome. The reason for 4 stars? The tools included for install donโt work. You need a 17mm box end and a good pair of channel locks. The template included to mount the bracket worked perfectly. Overall I think they are worth the money and the effort for sure.

Good quality, work well.
These casters work as expected. I purchased them with the mounting plates from Powertec. I canโt comment on whether this combo can hold 800 lbs, my bench does not weight that much. I donโt know what it weighs but it is perhaps 350 lbs. The casters and the mounting plates are very convenient as a package. A word of warning, any casters like this will twist your bench as only one leg can be lifted at a time. That said, some people have attached a bar between 2 casters so both can be raised or lowered together. I have not done that but like the idea.
