Expert Sudoku

I love that it is compact, can slip into my purse, and I don't have to chuck half of the puzzles in the garbage because they are too easy.The puzzles are challenging, without being impossible. If I'm going to use up my discretionary time, I don't need to solve the Collatz Conjecture, or run a marathon...I just want a bit of exercise for my brain.

I have done most of the super difficult sudoku books, and they were getting boring. Then I found this book (I was aware that Nikoli does human-made puzzles). I've solved over 100 of the puzzles, all without having to do a full mark-up, and I have loved every one of them. The puzzle-makers are correct that human-made puzzles lead you on an interesting path, while computer-made puzzles lead you to a single point of difficulty, followed by an uninteresting denouement. No, these puzzles are definitely not easy. But they allow you to follow logical steps to a conclusion. Try them. You might be excited about them!

The book makes the claim that Nikoli's hand-crafted sudoku puzzles are more enjoyable than computer-generated ones. I was skeptical at first, but I found it to be true. I have told others, none of whom seem to believe me at first, but when they try these puzzles, they see the beauty and fun of them. They really are better. I recommend these the highest possible amount.This collection is not too hard. The moderate difficulty is maintained throughout, which gives a sense of progress without the bottle necking. I enjoy the  X-Treme Sudoku  the most, but my father likes this one, and my great-nephew the  Original Sudoku .

The delivery was on time.

Nikoli is no doubt the best Sudoku source out there. Everything about their Sudoku books is great, from the puzzle design to the physical workmanship. Even their choice of font for the numbers is easier on the eyes than competitors - they really have perfected their craft.However, unlike their other books this one lacks the increase in difficulty toward the end. All the puzzles here are rated the same, and seem to take about 15 minutes to finish each. Not quite the challenge I was expecting with the "expert" moniker. At this rate it won't take very long to finish the book.

This is a great book. Small enough to take with and the puzzles are difficult! The book opens wide enough to work on both sides of page, altho it does not lie flat.My 2nd time using it!

I love the whole Nikoli series of Sudoku, from the intelligence and the fairness of the puzzles and ratings to the quality of the paper, making working the puzzles a physical and a mental joy. Those puzzles printed on very cheap paper - newsprint - I find physically unpleasant to work, especially when print bleeds through to the other side. These are quality in all respects.

Great book of puzzles. All are difficult and interesting. If you don't want a book with very easy puzzles, this is for you

Very challenging puzzles.

My husband aims to do one a day. He says they are challenging enough to make him think, and sometimes take him more than one day. But they are no so impossible that he gets frustrated and gives up.

I am a Suduko addict this is an excellent book for me. If you want a challenge this is the book for you.

Once you get past the hard and harder puzzles this is the book to get, every puzzle is a challange.
