LEGO Disney Princess Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle

Bought this for a 5-year girl old who is a Frozen fan. She was very pleased. For her age, it's a moderate struggle for self-assembly. An adult will have to assist. They can assemble the pieces but my struggle with understanding the visual instructions and locating the pieces. What I did was at each step, I got the pieces together (one to five at a time) and let her assemble them. It's slow but it's something they can feel proud about. Now, unless you take super glue to the finished castle, don't expect it to stay assemble for too long. They like to move things around and make up their own assembly pretty much immediately after finishing. I would say that the kit is on the pricey side which I suspect the license cost to Disney machinery. I doubt I would've bought this as a impulse buy but rather as a gift (birthday or holiday) of which I did.

My daughter received this Frozen Lego set when she was 4. She was obviously on the young side for Legos, but she and Daddy had a blast putting this thing together and enjoying some quality father/daughter time. Since the initial building, this castle has remained on display in her room for almost 2 years now. She takes it down, plays with it, and puts it back in tact quite often. It comes with enough little pieces (Anna, Elsa, Olaf, the picnic set, the sled, the ice skates, etc.) that there is quite a bit of interactive ability aside from the actual building. The moving staircase is one of the coolest Lego things I've seen! I'm a huge fan of Legos in general, so when they're mixed with our favorite movies/characters they're always a big hit! I think these are a great way to spend time with the kiddos doing an activity that both parties can truly enjoy. If your kiddos are old enough to complete a complex set like this one their own, I highly recommend this one to Frozen fans. Ours has seen a lot of love!

Great for kids

Not as detailed as many LEGO sets, but since this seems to be geared toward younger kids, the simplicity makes it easy to play with, as well as a quick build. Even without the more "finished" feel, there are some nice features, like the ski rack, icy treat station, and open-and-close spiral staircase. Olaf is a clever addition to the set, and sending the sled down the little slope is fun. Overall, a good set for children or collectors.

We bought this set 7 years ago and it still looks like we just opened the box. I've put it together so many times for my kids that it's easy now. Instructions are simple to follow. It's nice to have a main structure, with cool moving stairs, and some smaller pieces that can be played with apart from the main one. There's also a hidden cookie, which is fun to open and close for a 3-year-old. The colors are sharp, and the stickers have stayed on, so far. I can only imagine the fun the creators had with all the tiny details in the building and the Legos themselves. Enjoy building and playing!

This was a blast! My husband coached my four year old through it over two days- maybe three hours altogether. I haven't used Legos in years and I want delighted by the characters- little accessories pieces to add to their hair, etc. very detailed and very fun to see the castle come together. It was a smaller scale than I anticipated, but my husband did it was he overall size he expected. This was a great birthday gift and I think my daughter and hopefully younger son will enjoy this for a couple of years.
