Perfect display for my retro collection
Was running out of room in my small office/game room and figured I'd pick up a small wall unit/media storage to display my retro gaming collection. After researching a bunch I decided to go with this one even though it was the most expensive out of them all but had really good ratings vs the others. I must say I'm very pleased with it!Assembly was simple. Just screw in a few anchors, push in a few dowels and put it all together. The cam locks were already in the wood. No need to have to push them all in yourself. NOTE: The center shelves you install in the first couple steps, make sure the side with the holes for the screws are facing the back since the back board screws into them. Wasn't till I went to screw in the panels that I realized I had the one shelf facing incorrectly. Had to flip it around. Overall though, will only take about 20 mins or so to assemble. The back boards were nice one piece boards for each side. Just a matter of getting them in the slots and sliding them in. Easier with 2 people probably but managed myself. There was a little bit of damage on each panel near the one end but it will be hidden so I don't really care.I'm pleased with the quality over all. Looks very nice once put together. Love the depth of it. I didn't want anything coming out too far since the room is small and I didn't want to look/feel bulky in the room. The base of the unit comes out 9.5" from the wall its against and the front face of the frame/shelves only 7". It's perfect in my room and displays everything nicely that I had trouble finding space for elsewhere in the roomI was also concerned with how much the cases would stick out from the shelves and I'm also satisfied with that. Sega Genesis/Master System cases come almost to the edge of the shelf. Sega Saturn cases go over by 1/2". CD cases about a 1/4". PS2/DVD cases just a tiny scosh over the edge.I love the recessed grooves to hold the shelves in place. Stick the little metal rods in the holes and the shelves cover them up. Makes the whole unit just look claner not seeing those little shelf holders at the bottom of the shelves...which you wouldn't see anyway standing in front of it but sitting down i can see under a couple shelves and its nice to see it clean.Overall I'm very happy with the wall unit! 5 stars for quality. If there was a rating for price I'd give it 4 stars though. a penny shy of $200 seems a tiny bit overpriced for it...i could see it costing 99.99 to 129.99 max but whatever. It looked the nicest out of all the ones I looked at. But now that I think about it, the little touches like pre-installed cam locks, recessed grooves in the shelves to hide shelf mounts and one piece panels that nicely matched the look of the wood without just being a folded mess like I've seen on some units...i guess I could see where the extra cost comes over the cheaper 99.99 to 129.99 ones I've seen online or in Best Buy. Sturdiness is fine on it too. Of course if its not flush against a wall it will move a little if you push it but its fine. Only suggestion to the company would be to add round stickers that matched the wood color/grain to cover up the exposed cam-locks...or at least sell with black cam-locks.That's the end of my review...I must now go admire my new little display and figure out how to add some RGB lighting to it :)

Perfect for what they are designed for. Love this product!
Very nice shelves for the money. A step up from the usual cheap media shelves. Arrived double boxed so everything was protected during shipping. The weight is a little intimidating when you first get the delivery, but the unit was surprisingly easy to assemble and they give you more shelves than you will use if you use things for anything other than cds. I took the advice of an earlier review and used a bit of wood glue on the ends of the supplied dowels. Sturdy and solid. They look more expensively made than they are. I have it set up for half the shelves for my cd music collection and the other half for my dvds/blue rays. The black wood veneer again is a step up from the vinyl covered pressboard you usually see on the cheaper units. I'm glad I spent a bit more to go with a quality product. This is just what I was looking for. I would enthusiastically purchase again,

Well packed & extremely well manufactured..
I don't write reviews often but the manufacturing quality of this product was something special. First off it was boxed inside another reinforced box for shipment and arrived entirely undamaged: not a dent, not a ding, not a scratch. The base wood is fiberboard but the real wood veneers are well done and cover all the surfaces but the back, which is a printed veneer and the reason for the one star deduction. The real treat, however, was how precisely this piece was made and how easily it went together. There are lots of holes that have to line up EXACTLY, and they all did. The quality of the hardware seems well above average. The assembly instructions take a bit of puzzling out but once I got going the piece went together easily and without drama in about 90 minutes (the reviewer who says it only took 15 must be The Flash from the old comic books, I couldn't even unpack the box in 15 minutes).Anyway the finished product is exactly as pictured, everything fits precisely and it looks very good except for the printed veneer back which will become less and less an issue as I fill the shelves, and I guess that's the point. The case and shelves themselves look like real wood with no seams or glue lines. It's a very solid build. And a nice feature is the maker includes an extra piece of most of the important hardware parts in case of miscount, but I didn't need them. BTW although the picture shows 7 shelves plus the base 9 shelves are actually provided.Overall I'm extremely pleased, especially for the price.

Surprisingly thrilled!
First off, great shipping packaging. I saw it leaning on my front porch, looking a little worse for wear, and figured it was dinged or mangled. Opened the outer package, which was pretty easy since Fed ex shredded it a bit by shoving the package along the floor surfaces. (See pic). Inner box, absolutely pristine! Opened the that box to find everything in it's place and no damage!Loved the feel of the material, as I unboxed and took inventory of the pieces and tried to understand the directions. The directions leave a little to be desired. But I do pretty well just by looking at the illustrations.Loved that the screw locking mechanisms were already installed in the appropriate places! AND there is an extra.Stood the sides and base up, and became worried about how wobbly it was. Slid in the backs, "nailed on" the roof, moved it into place and installed the shelves. Was still a bit concerned about the wobbliness, even discussed buying a tether to tie it to the wall (like an Ikea dresser. Lol)...but once there were a few hundred CD's on it (the top half, even!), we decided it was fine. We do not have kids or dogs that would topple it over. The price: it pains me a little to pay so much for mass manufactured "wood" and furniture. But, we like it a lot, it matches our other black furniture well, it was delivered to me in perfect condition, and was fairly easy to set up. So, I'm considering the extra money spent on this as convenience fee that I paid for all of those good things about it.Only suggestions for the manufacturer, improve the directions & maybe a wall tether is a good business idea for this day and age.

Sturdy, looks good, well made
Very impressed with the quality and sturdiness. I have owned other, cheaper CD/DVD Storage units that were, well, crap -- this is not. Came well packaged and completely intact. Not too hard to put together. I still have TONS of CDs, DVDs, and BluRay Discs that I cannot part with and really wanted to get them all in one unit for easy access. This unit holds quite a few discs and is solid.

Very easy to put together
Wow...I would buy this one again...if I had the room! Very easy to put together...you just need a Phillips screw driver. Very study and very nice looking! One person can easily put this thing together...at least I did and it took me about an hour once I got all the shelving where I wanted them! It is for my cds so all the shelves were used! This is not cheaply made and the backing is even sturdy! Great over all deal...well worth the extra money which isn't that much more as I purchased this for under $176.00 and delivery was on time!

Good product for this price range
I have had this unit for a only a week, but so far it appears to be a good, solid item for the price. This particular model fit the bill for the amount of DVDs (200+) & CDs (300+) I own, and it appears to be up to the task. Here are a few notes which I hope will help:Packaging: I was a little nervous about having an item this big and heavy shipped, but the double box it came in protected the parts very well. The outer box had some damage in the corners, but it did do it's job as the inner box was just fine. There were some pieces of fiber board along the edges between the 2 boxes, and plastic corner protectors on the inner box which added protection.Assembly Instructions: I would say this is the biggest weakness for this product. I've put together several other pieces from other manufacturers and I have seen much better. There are pictures identifying the included parts, but the instructions themselves are a little cryptic. Be careful to line up the holes and grooves when building the frame as this is not clearly described. The parts do line up and connect properly if orientated correctly. (I made the mistake of not noticing the pre-drilled screw holes on one edge of the center shelves until after I had the frame all together and had secured the backing. No big deal since they are tiny, but it could have been made clear in the instructions.)Shelving: As has been noted by others, there are plenty of shelves provided (18) to configure the unit to your needs. The capacity advertised is very accurate. You can fit about 32-34 standard size DVDs across each shelf, or 50 music CDs (packaging on some DVDs and CDs will vary this number).Stability: Considering the weight it is holding, the unit appears to be relatively stable. In fact, it seemed less likely to tip once I filled it with DVDs and CDs. Still, especially since my unit is on rug, I have more peace of mind after securing the unit to a wall stud with an anti-tip hardware kit.I will update this review as needed, or after I have had the unit for a period of time.

I was extremely happy with this purchase
I was extremely happy with this purchase! Shipped quickly, packaging was solid and secure, and was easy to assemble. This is so well made, very sturdy, and worth every penny. My only suggestion would be to have additional shelf peg holes above and below where they currently are to account for CD/DVD combo configurations. They are perfect if you are only storing CDs though.
