When used for protecting mains electricity for outdoor lighting, how deep should the conduit be buried (Hituf cable)?

Deeper than you are likely to cut it with a fork or a spade. How about putting a row of tiles or bricks on top of it to give it protection?

what do you require to join together for long runs, cant seem to find any glands, i see you taped the joints , but then this aint water proof ??

It is not twin walled but comprises a surface of deep raised rings which offer good insulation and flexibility. There was no advice on temperature range. It is a well made and good quality product. Probably worth asking the supplier for more info.

Can this be easily cut lengthways to cover an existing cable that I've uncovered in my garden?

Wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem. It's quite flexible. I used a sharp knife to cut into mine and was easy to cut. Should be able to open it to cover the cable in my opinion.
