Tales of Mystery & Imagination (Everyman Paperback Classics) [Poe, Edgar Allan] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Tales of Mystery & Imagination (Everyman Paperback Classics) Review: Great collection! Fabulous illustration! - This is a larger format than the 1930 original printing ,which I also own. If you like Poe, this collection is great but the artwork of Harry Clarke illustrating the stories adds an unbelievably, vivid complement to the author's work. The original sells for hundreds of dollars when it can be found. this one was less than $20. the only thing missing are a few (3 or 4) color illustrations. Buy it!. Review: Great Buy - I bought this as a gift and it was a big hit. Also when I bought the book originally it said it would take a long time for the book to ship, but came within a few days. I was extremely pleased with this order! If you like Poe, you should love this.

Better rendition, added cover art and illustrations!
Great read! Cover art and illustrations are entertaining and being out the narrative! I wish it included the poems ( they do have a complete one without illustrations) but this book is a better rendition

Ok but no illustrations and quite short
I bought this because I saw the reviews saying it had great illustrations, but this has none. Maybe they're in a different version? It's also quite short, and missing some excellent Poe stories such as The Cask of Amontillado.

Incomplete
The last story in the collection, The Pit and the Pendulum, is missing three-quarters of the story. It just ends mid-paragraph.

Edgar Allan Poe is a Unique Literary Creation
From a Day Book found Among Antique Papers "Veriy I do remember the day in 1815 when we met him at the Boston Public Library's Children's Room on Copley Square...We were the "Letter Haters Club" at our weekly meeting...We loved stories but hated writing and reading....So we made up stories, and whispered them to one another, inspired by books with large pictures. I went over and asked him to join our group. He said he enjoyed many kinds of stories, and he wrote them all down. He said his name was "Edgar A. Perry." We called him "Eddy.'" When he read one of his stories, " Landor's Cottage," on another afternoon ...we could not believe all he knew. Maybe he learned foreign languages from his father who was a minister...but where did he learn of trees, rocks and minerals, clouds, fancy words, all of which he poured out into his stories? Shortly after these afternoons, he moved to England. and we never saw him again." Many of Poe's short stories are recorded in this Every Man - "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". A fine Introduction and informative annotations are provided, as well. This volume has been lauded as the most comprehensive edition of his short fiction available, The cover painting is enchanting. One recommendation - do not pass it up. Eddy will speak to you from over those long years ago..

This is an absolutely beautiful leather-bound volume of Edgar Allan Poe's 'Tales Of Mystery and Imagination', illustrated by the great Harry Clarke and published by Barnes and Noble. It is packed with black and white, colour and red and black plates. My father bought me the same edition when I was a kid but I lost it somewhere along the long road of my life. It's good to have the stories back again in such sumptuous raiments! If you haven't read Poe before it might take a bit of adjustment to absorb his florid stylistic excesses. In the introduction by Neil Gaiman he suggests reading the stories out loud. I couldn't agree more. Doing this really brings them to life even if you feel a bit silly doing so! The book is fit to be an heirloom. A beautifully made tribute to this great master of the macabre.
