Quieter, cheaper, easy swap for my old Jabsco
I installed this as the new shower pump on my Cal 39, replacing an aging 40+ year Jabsco that finally gave up. The fit was straightforward and the performance has been solid so far. Pressure is steady, priming is quick, and the noise level is noticeably lower than the Jabsco it replaced. The price difference is significant. Even if this pump doesn’t match the lifespan of the old one, the cost of replacing or repairing it is so much lower that it’s still a practical choice. If you’re running a similar system and want a quiet, budget-friendly pump that does the job without fuss, this one is a smart pick.

Perfect shower sump pump
This pump truly pumps my shower sump to nearly dry. There is absolutely no back wash after shut off. Very highly recommended.

Use this instead of a shower sump or shower box! Great product!
This is not a cheap pump, but I really appreciate the fact that it came with hardware, an optional in line fuse, has nice rubber mounting feet, and seems to have a really thoughtful design. The box and packaging are even well designed, with every spec or question you could possibly have answered on the box. It works absolutely great. I love that I no longer have to wonder when/if the shower sump pump is going to kick on or if soapy water is currently flooding my entire boat. The noise the pump makes is way better than a typical bilge pump. The Guper 220 with about 3ft of head pumps way faster than my water system can deliver, through the shower, so I have no worries about it not keeping up with the job. If you were on city water or a super yacht you might need more pump. I've owned older Whale products before, but my experience with this pump has convinced me that it's worth to spend the extra money the first time and spend less time messing around in the bilge.

doesn't clog.
Been pumping everything we throw at it now. It's installed in a dirty bige that frequently is pumping dog hair(and long human hair). Been flawless so far, probably around 6 months or more.

This pump changed my life. Eight month review.
My boat has a "special" sink graywater system that was in bad shape. In September, 2021 I rebuilt the whole system: Repaired and painted the fiberglass sump tank, new float switch inside the tank, new pump switch on the 12V panel, new wiring, new hose, new through-hull, new inspection port on the tank. I now needed a new sump pump! Approaching the final step in the system left me despondent and paranoid. I had replaced the previous pump, a Jabsco Water Puppy, a couple of times and had rebuilt that godforsaken Jabsco many times in the middle of cooking dinner. Tiny food chips or hair would clog the impeller or the thing would just inexplicably die on me. The Jabsco would rust to hell because I was replacing the wet impeller so often. Too much of my life revolved around that Jabsco. I rigged up quick release hardware and wiring because I was taking it in and out all the time. I even kept a spare Jabsco pump on the boat because the thing was so unreliable, and the one time I needed the spare, it died! A new $200+ pump, dead out of the box. The memories leave me feeling humiliated and worthless. Ready to give up and revert to an old-fashioned bucket system, I had one shot left and took a chance on this Whale pump. My life has changed for the better since I bought this Whale diaphragm pump. These days I listen with joy as this baby kicks on and produces the most angelic pumping sound every time the float switch engages. Sometimes I wash the dishes just to hear the thing gurgle and squish. Never once has it clogged. Never once, no matter what I rinse off the plates after dinner. I use a sink strainer and that's all - everything goes straight into the sump tank and through this Whale pump. Sometimes I do a little dance along with the rhythm of the pump and I loudly exclaim, "Thank you, my dear pump, for pumping right on cue once again!" My wife loves the dance and she even commented on her own a few times how damn reliable the pump is. One more note is that this is pumping from the deep bilge of a sailboat, up through a siphon break below deck level, back down to below the waterline. There's 6 ft. of head and 12 ft. of hose this little workhorse has to overcome, and it doesn't seem to mind a bit. I previously had this Whale routed through a different through-hull with 3 ft. of head, with over 20 ft. of run, and the pump liked that, too. If I could get a Whale pump to power my entire boat, I would do so. Whoever is reading this. If you have reached the end with your graywater pump and you're ready to give up, please know there is a space in paradise for you, too. This pump is all you need.

Quietly chugs away
It works great. At first it didn't pump but only bubble up the test water on shower floor. But, upon reviewing the included instructions and troubleshooting section I realized I had a slight air leak on inlet side. Changed hose nipple and Viola! Love the pump.

Easy install and works well - flowrate seems inaccurate
OK so for starters, this was super easy to install and it is working well with roughly 6 inches lift to the pump.. that said, we are not seeing 3.5 gallon per minutes by any stretch of imagination. and it takes longer than expected to self-prime. the unit is used as a shower bildge pump. I would buy it again as it works and was a easy swap out for the old unit..
