My mother uses it to help her read. Keeps light out as she has problems with glare and focus.

... but bought this because I had optic neuritis many years ago and sometimes my vision still isn't sharp. Letters on a page are much crisper when I use this in the doctors office. I bought it for the office thinking I could read with it as needed, but somehow the effect isn't the same. I need to cover the eye without the occluder just to read documents. It's more troublesome than it's worth for me but it might be good for others.
