After taking private spanish lessons for 8 months, we whipped through the first half of the book, but the rest was a bit more challenging and now I feel like I have a full grasp of conversational and written espanol. I definitely recommend this for someone who' has the basics, and know words and basic verbs. Even better, work through this book with a tutor/teacher, and you'll find it a lot easier to understand. Definitely Recommend Review: Very clear and helpful - I read some reviews in which the reviewers wrote that they were not pleased with this book. I am very pleased with it. Our instructor chose this book for our Spanish 202 class, an intermediate level. I found the book's explanations were very clear and sometimes written with a sense of humor. All the answers are in the back of the book so you can immediately see the correct answers for the exercises.

Great book
These books are excelent for those looking to improve their confidence in building sentences that make more sense to spanish speakers. I highly recommend this product if you have prior exposure to spanish since most questions dont come with a word bank.

Good exercises
This product is best used as a review for those at intermediate level or who just want to keep their Spanish alive, rather than as a transition from college level 100's to level 200's, due to some issues with transition. For example, exercise 13-9 in the 2nd edition, requests rewriting the given sentences using past and future tenses but the future tense is not covered till chapter 14! Otherwise, I liked the plethora of exercises (with answer key at the back).

Good as supplemental text but not best for beginner
This book is for a series student. There are no pictures or frills. I have not yet seen any cultural instruction, just grammar. It does a good job explaining grammar rules. This is quite valuable for both the learner and for a teacher who speaks the language but learned outside the classroom. However, the vocabulary and the grammar concepts themselves are introduced haphazardly, in an illogical and frustrating order. For example, it presents the names of the planets on page 12 and dives into the passive voice in the first pass teaching ser/estar. Additionally, the examples throw in new vocabulary that would send the language learner constantly to the dictionary when they are trying to learn verb conjugation. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and bought this text along with McGraw Hill complete Spanish to teach my high school child. I appreciate it as a supplemental text, but the title “complete” is misleading.

EXCELLENT BOOK! This is for people who already know a bit of Spanish though. The book is very easy to read and it is full of examples. There are lots of exercises and the answers are available in the end of the book. The pages are extremely thin, so be careful when writing or erasing. Do not use highlighters or gel pens :p The book is very big but very good.

Eu gostei muito da abordagem do livro, os exercícios são bem úteis e o Language Lab também ajuda bastante nos estudos. O que eu não gostei foi que as folhas são muito finas, então tem que tomar muito cuidado ao usar a borracha nele. De resto, recomendo muito, tanto para quem quer ter uma boa gramática de espanhol em casa quanto para quem sabe absolutamente nada de espanhol. Muito bom, recomendo!

I really like the pedagogy in this book series. You learn a lot and you can see it, which gives you more inspiration. Useful examples, great to be able to write stories in Spanish from the very beginning. Have used several other books but this is the best.
