Orbit 58910 2-Outlet Programmable Digital Hose Watering Timer

Just hooked up my unit last night to a hose connecting to a soaker hose. Set it to water this morning. Worked great, Flowers were watered and unit cycled perfectly. Ready to water again tomorrow. Depending on the heat of the day, I can easily alter how long and often to set my unit. Unit arrived well packaged. Inserted the batteries. Set the timer. That was easier than I expected. I did use plumbers tape on the two outlets before attaching anti-siphon valves that I had also used plumbers tape on. Attached the hoses easier with the tape being applied. I did have difficulty attaching to the spigot. Not a problem with the unit just the spigot. Once I applied plumbers tape to the spigot the unit attached quite easily. Turned on the water and found I just needed to tighten the hoses a little further. Ta da! No leaks. Looks like I may be able to keep my plants alive now and they can avoid getting mildew. Wish I had gotten this before all our hot weather as I was spending a lot of time watering. Leaving the second half for the hose to keep the birdbath filled. When I need to water the other section of flowers it will be a breeze to set that timer and I can spend my time doing other things. Really looking forward to using this unit. Very user friendly.

Received timer, but found it did not shut off. The ground was flooded. I hope this is not an ongoing issue because I’ve used these for a long time. This one was not good.

Programming is easy. Only allows you to set 1 timeframe per side. In other words, you can't water 2x a day a side. Works for what I need it to do but what I don't like is that my water pressure dropped with this in line. That meant that my sprinklers didn't reach as far as I wanted them to.

It finally expired today after 8 years of use. I left it outside last winter, not connected, but still. Since the spring, it had a slight water drip internally, and I think internal corrosion finally did it in. It was a good run, always reliable. And these are easy to program. Had I brought it in for the winter as I typically did, it may have made it to 10 years.

DO NOT BUY FROM ORBIT BEFORE READING THEIR WARRANTY!! Unfortunately I found out the hard way why they have an “F” rating from the BBB. They do not accept returns in any way, and their “customer service” is laughable, and absolutely horrendous. Now I’m out money, and stuck with defective products that I literally can not use. Getting in touch with them besides through chat is literally impossible. No returned calls, and unable to email, even to their emails that state you can respond with questions or concerns, just to get an automated response stating the email address isn’t monitored. Orbit is an absolute joke, and should be ashamed of themselves. One of the first timers (non Wi-Fi) cracked at the connection while I was away for Labor Day weekend, and flooded my garage. Orbit could have cared less besides providing a gift card for replacement. I “upgraded” to the b-hyve units, just to have 2 of the single connection units be defective. After hours of troubleshooting and sharing photos/screenshots, they deemed them officially defective stating, “they’ve seen this several times before”. That’s promising. New units come, again, and guess what? Defective. Same exact problem. While connecting, they state that the device information can not be obtained, just like the previous units. So they are literally trash. Reached out to them, went through more troubleshooting, and was told a report had been made, and someone would be in touch ASAP. 3 weeks go by, and nothing from Orbit. Go figure. I reach out again, and they tell me to enter for warranty replacement…. Again. At this point I don’t even want the things, but Orbit DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. So I put in the replacement, order the new units, then receive an email that Orbit Cancelled the order for “fraud”. Reached out to them again, was transferred to a supervisor, and was informed that they had reached their obligation on replacement units, and would no longer allow warranty replacements. So because THEIR products are defective, per THEIR words, and they had to replace these defective units multiple times, they’ve somehow met their obligation? Explain that to me Orbit. I paid for these products, the products don’t work, and now I’m out hundreds of dollars because they won’t do anything more. What happened to customer service? I now understand the many, many complaints on the BBB site, and the “F” rating. For those reading this, you’ve been warned. DO NOT BUY ORBIT PRODUCTS! You’ll not only be out ton of time dealing with “customer support”, but you’ll also be out the money, and stuck with defective units that cannot be operated whatsoever, because they can’t even be operated manually until linked and registered, which isn’t possible. Buy from a company that actually stands behind their products, and takes care of customers.

Excellent product - 5 stars - and glad that I was not put off by the negative comments. I was able to quickly set up 2 zones to be irrigated with water every 12 hours for either 3 or 5 minutes. Simple set up, worked first time, although carefully read the basic instructions. Product does everything it claims it can do, and is solidly built. Although the placement of the outside faucet may be an issue, keep the product out of direct sunlight if you want to preserve the plastic, and read the display easily. Happy !

This is the best brand for timers. I just bought a dual outlet to replace another brand that's malfunctioning. I bought this brand in a single years ago and it's still working with zero issues. The one I'm replacing is on it's 2nd season. The one I'm replacing is kind of a pain to program. This brand is stupid simple. If I'm replacing batteries I don't want to have to look up in a manual how to program the time. No worries with this brand because it's so intuitive. If you struggle to program this unit you're the issue.

Generally a useful and easy to set and use timer. However they last a bout 2 years. Internal mechanisms fail. We remove batteries, and store inside every winter. Valves become stuck open or stuck closed. The valves just give out. Electronic are consistent and reliable. You can hear relays engage & disengage, even after valve failure. We will be buying our 4th unit (3rd replacement) because cost for 2 years of watering convenience is acceptable. There is also the versatility to move sprinkler to where they are needed vs. the underground/fixed sprinkler watering systems

Excellent timer gives a long battery life and precise timing. Good flow as well.

This is a great, easy to use, hose timer. I have purchased several of these for each hose spigot at my home, and have essentially created my own DIY sprinkler system, leaving the same sprinklers in place all summer long. These timers are easy to program, and withstand the harsh summer elements (heat and rain) with ease. Batteries typically last 1.5 seasons.
