Kenwood ATTACHMENT for Multi Food Grinder, Silver

When my wife and I tied the knot, we registered at Marshall Fields in Chicago (now Macys) and at the top of my list was a KitchenAid professional stand mixer with an optional meat grinder attachment. The first time I used the KitchenAid meat grinder, it literally spewed blood and pieces of ground beef all over the kitchen counters, on the clean dishes, the floor, and the table. I never used it again - I'm not sure what the issue was, but it seemed a combination of speed, the pressure necessary to force the meat through the grinder and the plastic construction of the KitchenAid attachment. I never used the meat grinder (or the KitchenAid mixer) again. Eight years later, I purchased a Kenwood Cooking Chef Major mixer, and after using it for a couple of months, I was so impressed by its operational quality I decided to purchase several attachments, one of which was a meat grinder. Believe me, I balked a bit, but I went ahead. A few weeks later, I was able to purchase some beef round at a fantastic price (these days) - about $2.49 a pound. I decided to try grinding some meat again. What a difference! The precise speed control of the Kenwood Cooking Chef made the grinding a pleasure - great ground beef without the spew. Not only that, the grinder is all stainless steel and comes with a sausage stuffing kit! Pros: • Beats the KitchenAid grinder hands down in many ways • All stainless steel contraction, not plastic • Sausage stuffer included • Grinder has tray for easy feeding rather than a small hopper like the KitchenAid grinding attachment • Much, much easier to clean than the plastic grinder - you can even boil the parts to sanitize them if necessary • Comes with 3 grinding screens instead of two • Really responds well to the precise speed control of the Kenwood mixer Cons: • None

BOUGHT 5 front Attachements,and NONE FIT......REALLY REALLY DISAPPOINTED

I bought this to fit my Viking VSM 500 5 quart stand mixer. And it does. I ran it for a dry run just to test compatibility and it works perfectly so far. I haven't ground a batch of meat yet but when I do I will update. I did do quite a bit of research on the Kenwood machines and they seemed to be identical to my Viking in respect to a almost all of the features. I am glad that Kenwood parts do fit the Viking. My Viking is an 800 watt 5 quart model. For some reason Viking discontinued all their small appliances. So now it's hard to find replacement parts. The Viking, Kenwood, Delonghi and Cuisinart all appear to be the same basic machines. The sizes correspond to each other through all the brands. A 5 qt Viking is identical to a 5 qt Kenwood. A 7 qt Viking to a 7 qt Kenwood etc. So far I've bought an extra Kenwood work bowl and extra beater paddles. They all fit my Viking. Though with the paddles I had to buy different, newer Kenwood mounting shafts and switch them. Was easy. I have used the extra bowl and paddles to make cookie dough and they work perfectly.

For 30 years I've been using an old (1940s? 1950s?) KeenCut manual food grinder whenever I want to make hamloaf or something similar. I finally talked myself into the AT950 attachment for my Delonghi stand mixer (a Kenwood Major Titanium sold under a different brand label). And it's great! It's easy to clean. All the basic parts (except for one anti-friction bushing) are metal, and the pusher and other accessories are smooth plastic. Besides the obvious benefits of replacing the hand crank and working as fast as you could possibly want, this attachment has the non-obvious advantage of being much higher off the counter than the manual grinder. I had to use a shallow cake pan to collect the output from the manual grinder, and overflow spills were a routine mess. With this attachment, ground stuff drops into any conveniently deep bowl (including the mixer's own bowl) and the mess is a thing of the past. I have not yet tried any of the stuffing accessories, just the basic grinding plates.

This grinder is coupled with the Kenwood KMM021 reviewed elsewhere. This is one very sturdy and durable grinding attachment. Only plastic parts are the food ram and casing nozzles (2 sizes). Built for a lifetime of service. Very well engineered so food product stays well away from the drive coupling. I have used Kitchen Aid and this wins hands down!

We had an older kenwood chef with grinder attachment for 43 years. This new one is just what we wanted. The grinder works perfect because the cutting blades are new and sharp. We hope this new machine and grinder will last us an other 40 plus years.
