As others have mentioned, this doesn't seem to be made for use with keyboards. I bought it to hook an old IBM Model M to my computer, and it didn't recognize it at all.

Cannot fault this connector, but it didn't do what I wanted. I had an old HP keyboard for a tower computer that I wanted to use on my laptop with USB connection. But the wiring in the round connector must not have matched up with the USB input on my laptop.

I've learned since buying this that this product will not serve as an adapter for an old PS2 keyboard to a usb port. IT mates the table physically, but USB is a smart interface and needs circuitry to and intelligence to communicate over a usb plug. This adapter has no such chip to do anything of the sort and as such does not make an old keyboard work over usb.
