Does this have dividers or slots for each pen?

No, it does not have separate slots for writing intruments. I have had no issues selecting my desired pen or pencil. I am very impressed with the quality of these items, so much so that I bought another one. They hold up well, still looks and smells new and gives me a great since of pride when using. It protects your clothing and gives you a look of professional flair. I will purchase more. They make unique gifts as well.

Would this hold a couple Crochet hooks? Bates or Clover brand

Yes, 3 pens but not sure about a ruler unless a skinny 6 inch.
