What is the name of the connection piece the cord plugs into? The metal piece?

I believe you are referring to the "ground" part of the plug that is circular and plugs into the electrical outlet, but the only connection made is to the ground and not the prongs that are electrified.

we don't have 3-prong outlets or the ability to install a ground rod - does it work to connect to a portable power supply that has 3-prong outlets?

I don’t think I would trust this product, I used it as directed and was sitting on a plastic chair and built up enough static charge to discharge a spark from my finger.

If I made a copper wrist band do I just clip this to it?
