Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination - E-Book (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Rn)

I call this book "The BIBLE" of nursing knowledge. It is amazing! It takes all the information you learn in class and turns it into a perfectly condensed outline. At the end of every chapter is a section of questions with wonderful rationales to help you better understand the material. I started using this in my third semester of nursing school and had wished I had it from day one! My grades went from a 75.5 on exam 3 to an 83 for exam 4 (I had purchased the book after failing exam 3). Then for another class that I was just barely surviving with an 80 average, I ended up getting an 86 on the exam following the purchase of this book. I've told all my classmates about it and they all love it and their grades have improved. The best part is that it also prepares you for the NCLEX and after talking with RNs, it appears to be a popular choice for NCLEX preparation. Safe yourself the headache and stress and by the best Nursing Bible on the market!!!! I should get some commission for all the extra purchases my praise for this book has resulted in at my school.

This book is amazing! I always thought books like this were not something you should invest in until the end of your program before you take the NCLEX, but this book is a great study resource for your entire program. I am in semester 1, and learning the fundamentals of nursing, and the first unit in this book is packed with the exact fundamental chapters that we are learning in class. At the end of each chapter there are over 10 practice questions in that particular subject, and the answers right after, but the best part about the answers is they don’t just tell you the right answer, they include a detailed rationale for why that answer(s) is the correct choice. I have not accessed the online portion that comes with this book yet, but it looks like there is a question bank of the questions in the book and more. This is a must have for all nursing students and not just a last minute study guide for the big test. I highly recommend this book, at any stage of your program!

I wanted to wait until after my NCLEX to post this review: This book is great! I wish I had this when I was going through nursing school. It has every little tidbit you need to know about everything related to Peds, Mental Health, Adults, Maternity, and Fundamentals, all in neatly divided chapters. At first, this book seemed daunting because its 2 years worth of everything I’ve learned all rolled into one!!! But this book, along with the 500+ questions it has to offer, plus the comprehensive test at the end, could make any nurse confident in taking the NCLEX or just get through nursing school! I will say I supplemented my reading of this book with UWORLD as well because I needed help with NCLEX questions in general but this book helped me A LOT and helped me to pass my NCLEX in 76 questions!!!

The content is comprehensive yet easy to understand, and it covers everything you need to know. The practice questions are challenging and help reinforce learning, while the detailed rationales help clarify any misunderstandings. The book also includes helpful test-taking strategies that make a huge difference in approaching the exam. I highly recommend this book to anyone preparing for the NCLEX—it’s an essential tool for success!

This book is AMAZING!!!! I used this book exclusively for the NCLEX and I passed with 81 questions. I took my exam on 10/22/18. Do the practice questions at the end of each chapter and read the rationale as well. You can also do a lot of practice questions online through Elsevier, but I only did about 50 questions because my focus was to finish the book. The book alone has nearly 1000 questions (including a comprehensive 75-question on back). Most of my classmates used Uworld with success so that's an option too. However, this book gives you a comprehensive review and really prepare you. I read 50-100 pages a day and studied in less than a month. Buy it, you won't regret it!

I've had the sixth edition as well. The big change here for me is that the answers to the 15-20 chapter practice questions are now located at the END of each chapter-so you don't have to flip all the way to the back of the book every time. If you're a nursing student, you get how annoying that can be and that this is a nice change! As always, comes with a scratch-off code at the front of the book for additional practice questions online. I'm using this Saunders primarily for basic content review. The photos/diagrams in the book are also helpful. Saunders is consistently what my school recommends for reviewing the basics. I'm also using UWorld for practice questions for the NCLEX.

This textbook was the best resource I used to study for the NCLEX (Passed in 75 on 1st attempt). I loved it because it worked through all systems and need-to-know's for both adult and pediatric populations. It took you chapter by chapter covering adult and pediatric systems as well as maternity/mother-baby, mental health, fundamentals and more. Practice questions were provided at the end of every chapter to summarize the material, as well as a 75-question comprehensive exam at the end. It perfectly correlated with my study habits because I learn best by reviewing a section then taking practice questions to check my understanding. I would highly recommend this book to anyone preparing for the NCLEX or to supplement material from nursing class lectures!

I utilize this book for the additional practice questions you get if you buy new and get the access code. It has over 5,000 practice questions on the site if you have the access code. I use this after every content area I study to see how well I know the material. You can customize the content(ex if I only want to study maternity you can, if you only want to do 10, 25, or 100 questions at a time you can....) Most importantly it gives instant feedback and the rationale after you get a question right or wrong. Example maternity has 430 questions online Update: I did pass my Nclex in 75 questions my 1st time after failing the Exit Hesi 3 times. You can imagine how discouraged i was considering I did fairly well in nursing school. So, I utilized Hurst review to help me improve my core content skills, and I also used this Saunders book to give me more practice questions to study outside of Hurst review questions. Anytime I would learn a core content with Hurst Review (ex: endocrine system) I would come to Saunders and look up only endocrine system questions to see how well I knew the content. Although, I credit a lot of my Nclex success to Hurst review I would say I wouldn't have made it out of nursing school without utilizing my Saunders book.
