Acoustic Research 15-Device Universal Remote Control with LCD Touch-Screen

The AR remote has very sleek looks and a good feel to it, I like how it looks with the backlight on. It controls, my TV, amplifier, stereo, DishNetwork receiver, dvd player, ceiling light/fan (w/ a Lutron Maestro IR switch, media on laptop, and tower fan; I love showing off my "smart room," which I saved on with this remote. It IS a two-handed remote, which might not be what some of you are looking for. I had several isues while and after learning from my notebook's remote, but I eventually got it working. Also, I experienced some screen freezing issues, but they went away after replacing the batteries. overall, a great product for the price!

Unit I received I sent back. Don't know if it was just my unit, or the product line in general, but I'm not getting a second to find out. The non-adjustable screen contrast made reading the small print on the touch-screen buttons very difficult. I have many smaller vendor A/V components that did not appear on the code sheet for remotes, so I had to use the remote learning. Although the remote learning part was easy, despite "success" messages during training, it seemed to be hit and miss (more miss than hit) when you then actually tried to use the remote on the equipment. Repetitive training didn't resolve the issue. I also experienced a lot of system freezes when switching into the programming mode - requiring a reset. Despite the internal non-volatile memory, resets always threw off the date / time of the unit and I had to reset that. There were so many nice features to this unit, I am really sorry I just hated mine.

First off everything looked good- my components could turn on and off but programing the specific keys the universal remote would not detect any of my original remotes. Customer service is terrible and I got some lame excuse- Sorry , we don't guarantee our "Universal" Remote is compatible! Huh? Go figure, then why do they call it a Universal Remote. Price wise great, but you get what you pay for these days. I returned mine.

It is a good remote and once programed, makes it easier with macros to turn on and set several A/V electronic items together. Main complaint is backlighting and writing on touch screen is very dim. Unless your eyesight is 20/20 or better {mine isn't anymore} it may be hard to read in some lighting conditions; particularly in brighter rooms. OK for the price I bought it for, but probably wouldn't pay over $60 for it as there are others which are now better.

Best programmable remote I have ever owned. Very easy to program, and easy to use. Highly recommended!

Got this as a gift. I love it. I have had 3 previous remotes with macros, that never could get all of my components to respond to the macro every time. The macro programming doesn't provide any feed back, so you need to write down the sequence of keys, but its easy enough. The learning feature works easily. I like the clock and thermometer feature, and overall it just looks cool with the touch screen lit up.

Id just like to know how to get a refund? The remote worked golden for the first set of batteries when they went dead though all the keys froze to completely different settings and when I replaced the batteries and tried to reprogram it, its officially broken!

Thank goodness for Amazon, this product was dead on arrival but Amazon gave me a quick return and refund.
