With a lot of patience, I was able to locate the leak. I had my landscaper dig safely to the leaky pipe, had my handyman replace the pipe, spent less than $100! This item works!

Stuff worked great, it didn't just dissipate like food coloring but my leak was so small i couldn't find it.

My pool had a leak and I tried some food dye and thought I had a idea of where the problem was, But since my inground pool is surround by concrete I need to be sure. So I ordered this. It really did not work much better then the food dye, but there was much more so I did not feel like I was wasting my fluid. I came to a similar decision that it was one of the pool return jets, but since they are all connected I did not know which one. It was able to rule out the drain, skimmer and auto filler. In the end I hired a guy with a special microphone device that he could hear the leak and zero on how far into the return line pipe it was cracked. (turned out to be less than 1" from my fiberglass pool. So if you want to improve your guess, this stuff is OK, but if you want the real answer, get a pro with a listening device My leak detection and the expert were in sync, the expect told me exactly where issue was and the dye had just told me somewhere in the return lines

I should have bought this stuff weeks ago - I was throwing the hose in my pool for an hour a day twice a week. Ordered this lil kit, found the leak, patched the leak - all good. One less worry. Good stuff.

If you are reading this just buy this stuff! I knew I had a structure leak, but had zero faith this stuff would help me find it so I did the dumb thing and guessed by using epoxy all in my skimmer opening and even grouted a few spots I thought could be the source of the leak once the water level stopped dropping. Everything I did was a waste of time and $. I bought this as a last resort and in no time I found a pin hole leak in the title grout on my top step! Without this I never would have seen the hole or guessed the leak was even in that spot! Use this to check all your spots that have grout.

Works well. I saw some reviews saying it disperses too much, but that wasn't my experience at all. In fact I found that you can create a very intact thin 'worm' of dye if you dispense it in a very gentle way, moving the tip of the dispenser slowly back through the water as you go. But you don't actually need to do that - even just a little squirt that spread out a bit was enough to show that water was clearly moving towards one of my pool inlets, strongly indicating the likely source of my leak.
