I have chronic Lyme disease so often need to detox to help with herx reaction and toxic load and lemon in hot water is a great way to do this. However the packet suggests that it should be used within one week of being opened. So to make it last longer, I pour about 1-2 TBSP of the juice into silicon muffin moulds then freeze them. Once the liquid has hardened, I pop the 'cube' from the mould and keep them in a large freezer bag (which i keep in the freezer). When I want a drink I just fetch out a 'cube' of lemon, add it into a mug and pour over hot water. Its also a great way to store the lemon for cooking - when you need lemon for a recipe you can add it to hot dishes, or for cold dishes either leave in a small dish to melt or zap in the microwave for a few seconds. The ONLY downside to this product is the price - Its cheaper to go direct to the seller/ brand and purchase directly from them. This one is more multifaceted so at first I thought it was better but one of the facets is that slightly off, fermented taste you get when you eat lychees that didn't have the stems left on, so the germs got in the stem hole, know what I mean? Not exactly rotten but well, not exactly NOT rotten. I noticed that aspect of the flavor was more pronounced with fizz like when I added this to plain soda water, which is the main way I drink it. And as for the other ways I like fruit syrup, in iced jasmine or black tea or just with tap water and vodka, the simpler, sweeter taste of the Real stands up to the other flavors better than this does. I'd need to use twice as much of this than of the other to taste it over tea or vodka! Just in plain tap water this may have an edge due to tasting more realistic and interesting. Allegedly both are made with real fruit so I'm not sure why they taste so different. Maybe the Real is boiled down to make it more concentrated and that changes the flavors, or maybe both vary depending on the current crop. At any rate they are both nice enough. Good way to get my lychee fix the 50 weeks a year they're not in the store (I can't stand the canned ones, they taste like can- at least these syrups don't have any weird taste like that). Normally I but the \n \nMerchant Gourmet Chef's Raspberry Puree 1 Kg\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n , but as that was out of stock and I had an urgent raspberry puree emergency I thought I'd give this a try, and I'm certainly happy that I did.Firstly the flavour is great, the purée is made simply with 90% raspberry and 10% sugar which seems the perfect balance of sweet and tart.A small thing but I really like the pouch they come in, its shape makes it easy to squash into a corner of a full fridge and the nozzle ensures it's easy to pour without making a mess.The purée has a great shelf life (over a year on the two I received) and once opened is good for 8 days.The Funkin range of purées is now my go to choice, really happy I gave them a try. This Morello Cherry puree in particular is amazing, fantastic flavor, color, and consistency. I primarily use purees in confections and desserts such as gelee, mousse, cake, cremeux, etc, which always exceed expectations, but they are also outstanding in drinks/smoothies/cocktails. One of the best features of this puree is that it’s shelf stable! Most other decent to premium purees need to be frozen or refrigerated, which results in time sensitive use and fills up the freezer, plus the premium frozen purees are typically significantly more expensive. Being able to have premium level fruit puree on hand whenever the need may arise is extremely convenient. Plus if you don’t want to use the entire contents of the pouch within a week or so, you can easily freeze small portions of puree for individual use, and they’ll take up very little space and last for months. I frequently portion out the puree in particular amounts for specific types of recipes for future use.
