## Description

Stealer Mechanical Pencil silver series, 0.7mm

Review: Expressive Pencil ! - I got this pencil a few months back, and I'm finally here to give my review. I use this pencil as an artist, I have many pencils and I absolutely love metal pencils such as the graphgear 1000 series, and I decided to try this one out, more due to the aesthetics. When I received the pencil, I wasn't entirely sold on its packaging, it came in a plastic pencil holder, not like a bag, but just a single pencil holder. That aside the pencil looked amazing! It came with some lead but unfortunately the lead broke during shipping, I did replace the lead with my own and it took it great! First Impressions The pencil was, to my surprise, very light feeling, it was a bit hard for me to personally adjust to its weight as I expected something slightly less heavy than a graphgear, but man, once I got a feel for it it was amazing. The pencil writes very fast, almost like a ballpoint pen, it glides. And I love the lead hardness indicator! The pencil performs well under a light hand and a slightly heavier hand. The Barrel Tip The tip of the pencil is probably the only thing I could find a problem for, and if it wasn't for the poor shipping, it wouldn't be an issue at all. The tip is very elongated which is nice, it is to protect the lead, and also be helpful when using a ruler for straight lines, however, my pencil came with the tip slightly bent, which causes lead to break inside the barrel every so often. It wasn't a big deal, but it did become a bit expensive having to constantly put in lead every hour or so. I have tried to straighten it out but I don't want to put pressure on it as I fear it will break. But I find it easier to just use a single lead and only replace it when it inevitably breaks or is worn enough. But I do appreciate the barrel tip! For Sketching/Drawing This is honestly my favorite, go to pencil for anything, I write with this pencil, and more importantly (to me) I draw with it! The lightweight of the pencil helps me be mindful of my own pressure I put on it, so making lines has become very easy now, as well as the opacity of them! The feeling of this pencil on paper is top notch, as well as it's look! I can not stress enough how much this pencil makes you feel good about your projects! I have linked photos of art I made with this pencil! The Meh Aspects Finally where I talk about the things I don't really hate but don't like either, and I'll start with the grip. OH. MY. GOD. The grip is nice looking but it feels very uncomfortable. The grip is sticky and feels kinda fuzzy. It is an uncomfortable and unpleasant feeling, and due to the stickiness, it gets dirty really fast, and since the pencil is metal, I wouldn't recommend washing it with water for fear of the metal degrading. The last meh thing for me was that the pencil itself just gets dirty quickly, I keep my pencil in a pouch but lead and other objects continue to constantly dirty the pencil, It is very easy to clean with a cleaning wipe however! That is about it Final Thoughts If you want a pencil that looks nice, and makes you feel like you are very skilled in the project you are working on, this is the one. It's cheaper compared to other pencils such as the graphgear 1000 or the kuru toga advance, but it is very similar in quality! It writes and draws well, and for me, it is my go to pencil for everything. Do not let my negative points deter you from buying this pencil, because while it has its downs, there are so many ups!
Review: My favorite pencil by FAR. - I love this pencil. So much, that when I lost my old one (left it somewhere when traveling), I immediately knew I needed to get a new one. It feels amazing, it's nice and heavy, feels like the quality item that it is, and has never let me down. You do need to be a bit careful with it (so it may not be ideal for kids), as it's possible to bend the metal shroud around the tip of the emerging lead if you drop it on a hard surface tip-first. This pencil is my favorite writing instrument, and it's what I use for my daily planning, goal-setting, note-taking, and other things. I would suggest a separate eraser. The one on the pencil (under the cap) works great, but it's small, and while replacements can be found, they're not super cheap: Staedtler Mechanical Pencil Eraser Refill for Drafting Pencils 925 (92R) . Get a Staedtler Mars Stick Erasers (STD52850) instead. That thing is, for erasers, what this one is for pencils: a lovely and highly functional thing. Alternatives to this pencil: Staedtler 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil Night Blue Series (925 35-05) (the exact same pencil, except in a nice dark blue. I got the silver since it's easier to see (I don't wanna lose this thing again!) Staedtler Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm (925 05) (the cheaper, plastic version of this one; I say skip it. Metal is glorious!) Pentel Graph Gear 1000 Automatic Drafting Pencil, 0.5mm Lead Size, Brushed Metal Barrel, 1 Each (PG1015A) (also a good alternative, but I prefer the Staedtler... its just feels nicer to me). Uni Mechanical Pencil, Kuru Toga Roulette Model 0.5mm (I haven't tried this one yet, but feel that it's not as classy-looking). rOtring 600 0.5mm Silver Barrel Mechanical Pencil (1904445) . A lovely pencil, but at this point, I feel you're paying more for the name. I bought one, and it was nonfunctional. Eventually, I may try for another. While you can't go wrong with any of those excellent pencils, the Staedtler silver is my fave, and likely to remain so. At under about ten bucks, it's a great value, and a lovely and functional piece of art I love to use and keep around.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this lead holder all metal?**
A: Other than the lead, yes. Seeing that some others claim they are seeing plastic lead holder tubes, there may be different versions out there. Mine is brass. I will try and upload a photo to my original review since I can't do it here.

**Q: Are the screw threads that hold the pencil together plastic or metal? I have a habit of snapping most pencils at the connection point.**
A: Metal. The pencil is like 90% aluminum

**Q: I LOVE this guy. Anyone have the specific product specs (i.e. serial or model numbers) for the erasers and lead? Thanks!**
A: I found it below, however, these erasers don't compare to the links below, but I understand if you want eraser replacements in the holder itself, they just are not as good.http://www.jetpens.com/Staedtler-925-Family-Drafting-Pencil-Eraser-Refill-Pack-of-5/pd/5308http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QNVXQQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1http://www.amazon.com/Staedtler-Mars-Plastic-Erasers-52650BK4/dp/B00006IFAN/ref=sr_1_2?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1424366094&sr=1-2&keywords=mars+eraser

**Q: Does it have an eraser?**
A: I don't have the staedtler 0.7...I have the 0.3 and love it. Mine comes with an eraser so I would imagine they all do.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An upgrade from the Staedtler Mars 780 ...
*by A***H on April 29, 2018*

The Staedtler 2.0 mm Silver Series (925 25-20) is an all-metal mechanical pencil weighting 21 grams. The extra weight feels comfortable in my hand - better control. This pencil is quality built inside and out. I am amazed that Amazon is currently selling it for a little more than the Staedtler Mars 780 Technical Mechanical Pencil, 2mm. 780BK which has a plastic barrel and weighs only 13 grams. I own both pencils. The Staedtler 2.0 mm Silver Series is a much better pencil then the Staedtler Mars 780. The Silver Series works more like a mechanical pencil then a lead holder. It does not have the big gaping jaws at the tip. It advances the lead a little bit at a time like a normal mechanical pencil. You can always grab the lead and quickly pull it to a much longer length if needed. The pencil has an adjustable lead hardness degree indicator. I only use the Staedtler Mars Carbon Leads with this pencil. It is the best 2.0 mm lead I have experienced. PROS: - All metal construction. This baby is solid yet comfortable. It should last for years. - Adjustable lead hardness degree indicator. - Lead width indicator is on the cap. - Beautiful design and finish. - Heavier than the plastic 2.0 mm pencils - weights 21 grams. - It also comes in the color blue Staedtler 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil Night Blue Series (925 35-20) CONS: - Does not work with the rotary lead sharpeners. - It advances the lead like a normal mechanical pencil rather than a lead holder. The speed of lead advancement may be an issue for some people.
