These durable, yet lightweight fitness mats are extra-thick (2/5 Inch) for the additional cushioning your joints need during any yoga or fitness routine. Review: The brand to beat? Seems like it. Thick and safe. Nice and grippy - I needed the thickest yoga mat I could find because I have terrible balance and I was sure to take a tumble sooner not later. I shopped diligently. I checked out Costco - great price but the thickness wasn't there. I scoured desertcart comparing price and thickness. Turns out the thicker mats were priced significantly higher than Gaiam. Now who knows what deal will make my results obsolete. Well I unpacked the mat and checked it out with a few poses. Yup, right then and there within one minute I took a tumble. Luckily I landed on the mat. It did it's job and only my dignity was hurt. No bruises except to my ego. But with my horrid balance it could easily have turned out differently. I think I should buy at least two more. Cuz I ain't going to land perfectly every time. And no more standing balance poses for me. With the critical safety feature well demonstrated and cost effective come other issues. The mat is a relatively standard size for a quality yoga mat. I have certainly tried to save money and ended up with smaller and thinner mats. But back then my balance was significantly better and the trade off seemed reasonable. It seems to have a permanent curve in the mat. Makes it easy to roll but there is definitely an up and down surface spreading the mat. The harness to hold the mat is very secure, holds well but not the most convenient on the planet. The surface is nice and grippy very important to me. The mat has just enough give that you can sink your toes in a little bit. Excellent! Boy do I need that. Assuming I can stay balanced the whole time this is a comfortable (!) mat and if I just bounce off then you should not experience pain from extended standing poses.

Firstly, this yoga mat is incredibly soft and smooth. It is a perfect addition if you have hardwood floors. Secondly, you don't have to worry about slipping around everywhere on the yoga mat. Thirdly, it has a perfect amount of thickness to it. If a yoga mat being thick is a top priority for you then I will highly recommend this particular brand. Lastly, the color is beautiful. As someone who enjoys doing yoga and is starting to slowly get back into it I am glad that I was able to buy this product and have a good experience with it. I'm still testing out the yoga mat so I'm hoping that it last a while. Reminder: Although some people may have bad experiences with this yoga mat I would still recommend you try it for yourself to see how you like it. Everyone's experience is different.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does 2/5 mean? Couldn't you just say that it is less than a half of an inch and therefor not really thick at all?**
A: 2/5" (0.4") is 10.16mm. Most mats are 1/4" which is 6mm. It is easier to compare mat thickness in millimeters than in fractions of an inch. So, this mat is a lot thicker and will give more cushion.

**Q: Do you know how long it takes to offgas? I just got mine and it's really smelly, thanks!**
A: New yoga mats may have a bit of smell at first, but it is completely harmless! The smell will fade with time and use, however, cleaning the mat can quickly speed up this process. We recommend washing the mat with a yoga mat wash or a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. Then let the mat air dry. It should take no longer than 2-3 days maximum. **Q: Is it really for yoga? Does it have good grip on both sides?**
A: I use it for yoga. Has a great grip on both sides and extra thick padding to reduce pressure in certain poses. Also great for enhancing balance as the thick foam forces you to focus on balance.

**Q: Will it fit in a yoga bag 26 wide 6 diameter?**
A: No, it’s much thicker.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Denser foam, kinder to knees

Very happy with this mat. It provides better protection and comfort for my knees than my previous 1” thick mat. It is a higher density foam, based on total weight 1lb. heavier, than my 1” mat. Since it’s thinner, it’s much easier to roll out or up . I didn’t notice any oder. Arrived on time next day.
