The electrical security in terms of water making direct contact with electricity is dependant on the element not on the towel rail itself. The element is actually an elictrical coil contained within a metal sheath and it is that which is in direct contact with the water. It is designed for the purpose. I suppose it is possible in time for the sheath to corode but that is true of all electrical heating elements such as immersion heaters etc. Normally the element would fail and be replaced long before that situation arose. Even if it did the earth leakage circuit breaker in the consumer control unit would trip and render the circuit dead. **Q: how much dos it cost to run** A: I don't know the exact answer to this question. You can work out the cost per hour when it is on though. Simply multiply the wattage in KW by the unit price per KWHr on your tarriff. If the wattage is only 400 watts that is 0.4 of a Kw so you would multiply the unit price by 0.4 - not by 400. As it is controlled by a thermostat the time it is on will depend upon the temperature of the room it is in which will vary throughout the year. **Q: Is the 700x400mm heater water or oil filled Please** A: Good morning, The radiators are oil filled. We have it in a cloakroom and it's plenty warm enough. I was able to install this independently. Takes a bit of careful measurement and using a spirit level. Had to get an electrician to wire it all in. Unable to adjust the temperature on the device, which is a bit disconcerting and it can get hot. Had to get an on and off switch built into the wall socket for this.
