The antenna is quite long -- 10' -- but relatively skinny, so that it fits nicely in the attic. Reception on the upper-VHF channel in our area went from marginally OK to absolutely solid, even in heavy rain -- all at a distance of 38 miles from the wimpy (50 kW) transmitter with slightly tree-obstructed LOS. Pairing this antenna with a modest-sized UHF antenna and using a VHF-UHF combiner produced excellent performance across the TV spectrum. Note: One nice thing about using such a big gun of an antenna is that you don't have to try to squeak by using amplifiers or pre-amplifiers. The aluminum in the attic provides real, solid, essentially noise-free directional gain, rather than providing gain for both noise/losses in the receiving system -- much more effective, and cheaper. In a pinch, good antennas (like this) plus a good pre-amp would be optimal, but I found I didn't need the extra electronics and I'm doing great with just passive antennas. It will pick up some UHF stations up to about 30 miles.The antenna has a 300 ohm connection but i think it comes with a 300 to 75 ohm transformer.Hope this helps you. I am able to pick up a channel about 70 miles away behind mountains. The only problem I had was that one of the wing nuts would not screw down the balun completely and I had to put something in between in order to lock down the wire. I emailed Antennacraft with specific information relating to my installation requesting info on how to get more stations. All I got was general info and it was clear they never really read what I was working with.
