I wanted large, within the 62-64" limitation of domestic and international carriers, but didn't want to lose a lot of weight to the bag. I was torn between a soft-side and a "hard-side" both have pros and cons. I love that this is a hybrid and very nice looking. It does feel like I'm getting the best features of both types. It's a bit more expensive than the price point I wanted as airlines baggage handlers will be baggage handlers but time will tell. We've used it on it's first trip and came through like a trooper. Pros: Handles are sewn and screw attached not just pop rivets Extra handles made it easy to pull in and out of the trunk and off baggage claim Expandable 4 wheels, wheels easy Separated section with zipper so that clothes don't tumble out when top is opened Light-weight Large, capable zippers with the main compartment zipper has the rings that allow a small lock to be put on (or cable tie). Lay-flat for packing Minimal space lost for the handle and interior items Cons: No TSA lock While the handle is a rectangular tube which takes up less space than normal round tubes and is slightly protected by the hard side of bag - it seems possible to me that if an edge hits it at the right angle it could be dented and then not pull up. This luggage, so far, has been very good. I like how it has zipper sections to contain your clothes and how it rolls smoothly. So far I have no complaints! It has handles in multiple areas for loading and unloading and it also has outer pockets for items which need to be easily available. One thing I wish it had was a laptop section for my Macbook Pro.
