HYDROFLOAT is a Spectra based line with a thermal fused coating. Although the line can be used in many applications and works well on both spinning and bait casting reels, the specialty technique it was designed for was float fishing for both salmon and steelhead. The fused coating of HYDROFLOAT makes this line more buoyant than traditional Spectra lines, allowing the angler to have a drag free drift by always being able to see and manage the line on the surface. Unlike most Spectra lines that are very limp and suffer the dreaded "tip wrap" HYDROFLOAT has more body which helps eliminate this problem. When making long drifts, anglers will appreciate the fact that HYDROFLOAT has virtually no stretch, allowing you to have a positive hook set on extended drifts. I have used lots of different kinds of line you name it I have used it so when I saw this line I thought if it lived up to what they say it's good for I would love it. That was not the case I ordered 50lb for the diameter so it would float the best. I might have just got lead core line it would not cast more then 15 feet at the max with 3/4oz of lead and it didn't seem to float any better then 20lb powerpro. I would say if your looking for a good line for fishing floats use suffix siege tipped with floroclear and put some gink on on the 5 to 10 feet of line above your float.

Put this on a starter combo for my son for his first center pin rig. Great line but this definitely is high visibility so line dodging steelhead will absolutely run away from it.

I tried to put this line ( 15lb test, 0.23 DIA MM ) on a KASTKING Kodiak 3000 reel. The Kodiak says it holds 200 M of 0.235 mm line. After 20 - 30 feet of 0.25 mono backing, the spool on the reel is full and there is still approximately 50 yards of line on the line spool. Keep this in mind before you choose a reel to put this like on.
