So, thought this looked like a viable alternative. It did fit him well, and did not obstruct his face or peripheral vision. BUT, it in no way prevented him from licking the wound, he is a bigger dog, and has a longer tongue, so maybe it would work for smaller breeds. But, had to take it right off so he couldn't lick it and risk infection, and put the other cone on. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Works for the most part - as long as you have eyes on the dog *by D***A on Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2019* I like this a lot better than the e-collar and so did my dog. My dog had surgery on her back leg so the vet made her wear an e-collar. She could not move around much nor could she see very good with that on. Plus her ears started getting smelly from no air circulating inside the cone. That has cleared up since we switched over to the thingy but it did not take her long to figure out how to get the thingy of. She put her paws on the backside and pushed it over her head several times, especially at night. The inner tube should be a little tighter or provide a way to attach her collar to the thingy to keep it from slipping over her head. It could also be a few inches wider. The thingy bends fairly easily so she could still get to her back foot. I had to go back to the e-collar for night time but as long as I was home and could keep an eye on her, I let her use the thingy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Depends on where stitches are... *by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2018* I wish everyone would write which area of the body they are trying to keep thier dog from licking. I assume most are a spay/ neuter surgery site. My dog (corgi) had a vulvoplasty so her stitches were between her lady bits and butt. She was able to barely reach the stitches wearing this cone but I decided it was okay because 1. She wasn’t licking much & seemed to be leaving the stitches alone. 2. She was her normal self in this cone vs the hard plastic cone. She could sleep just fine, use the doggy door!! Eat and drink out of bowls without flipping anything over, and not hurt anything when she walked past. The benefits of this cone vs a regular shaped cone (even the comfy ones) are so great. I think if my dog had had a normal spay procedure, this cone probably would have prevented her from reaching the stitches in that location.
