I am a firm believer in quality even at a premium when warranted. In the long run, this usual logic tends to present the better value. However, this comes with a caveat: premium costs don’t always equate with superior products, and vice versa. One must evaluate the essentials and weigh their inherent value for the operator. I set about my normal scouting with all the familiar top-branded suppliers. And I was impressed with many offerings, but I was not ready to pull the trigger just yet. And then I discovered the Sulaite-branded suit. It seemed to have all my required feature standards and more. So I ordered the item. When the item arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that I had actually underestimated the value. This is a great suit! The manufacturer has created that essential balance of providing full utility within a motorcyclist’s rain suit without making the item too heavy or too flimsy. It’s almost the Goldilocks of what I was seeking. First, the material is a light but pliable waterproof fabric. It breathes—just a bit. For me, material was the deal-breaking point. I did not want rubber or anything mimicking rubber. My next observation was the stitching. It is even and consistently double-stitched throughout the garment. I would prefer felled seams for a rain suit, but I haven’t located this seam type in decades. So double-stitch is an acceptable compromise. Then there was the lining. The manufacturer could not have added the full lining, and the suit would still function, although it wouldn’t be as comfortable. As heat builds in the suit, the lining allows the suit to still flow instead of sticking. So I thought, "These guys are on a run, yes?" Then I noticed the pièce de résistance: Sulaite added stitched boot covers and straps. Most who’ve logged many miles in the rain have come up with several hacks to keep your feet as dry as possible. Plastic bread bags inside of your boots but over wool socks are more or less a standard go-to. However, the more rain you can prevent from spilling into crevices, the drier the experience will be; adding these covers shields the boot’s topside, lace station, and entry point. The bootstraps keep it all in place. So all in all, I will say it's an impressive entry into this arena. In my area, we happen to be in the rainy season. So testing was immediate. The suit performs. Note, the suit runs small. The purchaser should definitely go up at least one size, and possibly two. I stand 5’10” and weigh 175 lbs. I normally wear a large-sized jacket and 32-33 trousers, but a medium-sized Joe Rocket motorcycle jacket. I ordered an extra-large under the forethought that more than likely I would deploy this rain suit 'over my standard cycle layering system'. The ordered extra large fits just about perfectly over the Joe Rocket medium jacket with full armor in place and armored pants. This fitting allows ample movement. However, I am aware that I am wearing the extra layer. My opinion is that it’s a great buy. The manufacturer seems to have taken pride in producing the product and pursues active quality control. I believe this system will withstand most common situations riders will throw at it. However, only time will reveal its durability. If any irregular catastrophic failures occur, I will update this review. But in the meantime, I am a happy clam. Or should I say dry clam? Ha! Cons: · The hood snaps are adequate but not super robust. · The hood is not large enough for a full-faced helmet. · Venting would have made the ensemble perfect. When these suits are worn, air doesn’t really enter or leave the system. This can cause temperature increases and sweating, so plan your layering system. · Suit runs smaller.
