The depth of the jaws are 1.5" for the C5r and 1.25" for the C4r. The C5r is for pipe and the C4r is for downspouts, but I think you can use either for downspouts. The jaw depth is the only difference. **Q: Does it work on 24 gauge galvanized smoke pipe?** A: Yes, they'd work on the smoke pipe. I've had many different pair over the years.
