I am very pleased by these clamps. They have a very positive and sturdy mechanism, and they develop more clamping pressure than those I've used in the past. They hold their set clamping force without the gradual slippage. All moving parts that are involved in producing and holding the clamping pressure are made from fairly heavy metal. The actual handles are plastic, and the actual clamping jaws seem to be made from a fiber-reinforced plastic of some sort, which are heavier built and apparently sturdier than other ones.
