I'm sure you are not limited to only these tools. A much simpler tool is probably enough to cut it. Perhaps other users may contribute to the kind of tools they use. **Q: Can I use this to protect the top of a small night table? Are the edges smooth?** A: The edges (sides) are nicely finished, but they do meet the top and bottom surfaces at a hard "edge" if that's what you mean. The edges and corners are not rounded over. Just be aware that acrylic isn't very scratch-resistant, so if scratches are likely to bother you, you might consider looking for a piece of tempered glass instead. **Q: Can this be bent if heated or will it just melt?** A: I bought the red acrylic sheet and it formed perfectly to the shape I needed by heating with a heat gun.
