The gas is ignited with an approximately 23,000 volt charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source that is provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery. Remarkably, HID lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption. Studies show that a 35 watt HID lamp produces 3 times as much light compared to a 55 watt halogen bulb. Moreover, the 55 watt halogen bulb uses a continuous power draw of 10-15 amps, while the HID system uses 20 amps for starting up, but then drops down to a mere 3 amps during operation (that is up to 80% less power during use!). In addition to high output and low power usage, the HID headlight provides longer service life. I wanted to install aftermarket HID fog and headlights. I first went to a professional installer who after trying to install the headlights noticed the lights would flicker. To eliminate this he added a Capacitor to the lights. This method worked with the flicker but after a month 1 light stopped working. Then the other light not long after.After doing a web review of the components the installer used I found that all the parts came up to roughly $20. Cheap parts=Cheap performance.I started looking for a better alternative online to do the install myself, and came across the Kensun brand. I had never heard of the company but the reviews were good and I liked the look of the fancy packaging.I ordered the Optimum Conversion Kit for my fogs. It came in a briefcase, with 2 HID lights and 2 thin ballasts.Install went smoothly. When I tested the lights with the truck on RUN (not ON) the lights worked great. So I put everything back together.Started up the truck and the lights would intermittently work then shut off. Sometimes they flickered, sometimes they didn't.Tried it with engine off and on RUN position, lights worked great.So I called Kensun customer technical support, and explained my issue. They said I needed a special harness which wasn't included in the Item I purchased but they would send me 1 free of charge. Fantastic.I received the harness a few days later but no instructions so I called Technical support again.I was literally walked through every step of the install with the technician. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered every question I asked.Armed with this new information, I installed the harness which took about 30min. Most of that time was spent making it nice and neat. Best part was I no longer needed a capacitor to stop the flickering. The harness I was sent eliminated that problem.Checked the lights with truck off- Worked PerfectlyChecked with truck engine on- Worked PerfectlyThis is definitely a 5star product and the customer support deserves 10stars!Extremely Happy Customer =)**Edited 1/1/2019Sorry for late followup, just an FYI if you run into these issues.-I noticed if I left my lights on "Auto", 1 or even both lights would eventually stop working. Then I would have to go under the truck to pull the fuse or disconnect the positive battery connector to reset. To remedy this I used the same gauge wire and extended the fuse which was under the vehicle, closer to the battery terminal. Easier to reset the harness this way.-Another remedy that works is to take your lights off AUTO, and turn them OFF and ON manually as needed.-Harness Relay needed to be replaced after getting wet. Kensun sent replacement, no hassles.-Harness Relay went bad several months later. Instead of waiting I went to Advance Auto with Relay, and surprisingly they sell them. Purchased and installed. Worked swimmingly.Still a good product with Excellent customer satisfaction. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More than the product, AMAZING customer service. *by N***U on February 1, 2018* THE ABSOLUTE BEST.Great product and great customer service.Let me tell you my story. I bought this on December 2017.So I get the package and after a little struggling, I manage to install one of the lights. Then I noticed that it is not working. So I try different combinations of Ballast and Bulbs, luckily it seems that the issue is only with one of the bulbs.I cursed my luck and contacted customer service for Kensun, I have bought many products online over the years, but this was the first time I have gotten an e-mail reply so fast. It was even close to the holidays.Five days later, I receive a new Light bulb. I finished installing everything and, crap!, the low beam of one of the bulbs is not working. I contact customer service again.They didn't ask why, they didn't give excuses, they shipped me a new bulb.Now I am a proud owner of HID lights in my new car and I am super satisfied with the service and support they have provided. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not an exact fit but close.** Update! **Definitely read *by N***H on November 21, 2016* I installed these and 1 didn't work. One of the terminals had pushed over. I straightened it out and it works well. It is not an exact fit and when at a stop it.looks like the bulbs are bouncing up and down. Very bright. **UPDATE** Well here is the update to this order. Someone from Kensun contacted me about this not fitting correctly. They immediately sent another set and they work great. 10 stars for customer service. Unbelievable! I would order bread and milk from them if they sold it.
