The pins are easy to lose while working with them and when they fall on a dark surface and are hard to see, if you simply run the magnet across the surface, you can hear the pins being picked up. Transferring the pins from one place to another is really easy with this tool. The added bonus is that they will also pick up steel casings when you are trying to separate them from the brass ones.
