I think it's great however, I recommend for all first time watchers of SG-1 to read my recommendation first before continuing. It's up to you how to react and deal with everything, but I do recommend this:My recommendation to all who come to season 9 from season 8. I recommend this as an excellent break point where you should now head over to Stargate Atlantis and watch that. I may recommend watching all of it, since it shouldn't be too much off historically, minus the last season of it, or so. Guys, first time watchers for SG-1 are going to be really upset after watching the first episode for this season, so take a breather, come back, and dive in. Believe me, I was ready to kill the directors after watching the first time through and getting here, so I understand perfectly. So, go and watch SGA after season 8 of this series and finish out that series. Then come back here, you're mind will be fresh. However, you can stop watching SGA around the time General Landy, which you'll see in this episode of season 9, comes on the scene. By that time you'll be caught up to here and probably have enough time spent away that diving back here and passing time in this episode to understand everything you'll be more ready for what you see here, and you'll like it better. However, yes, I understand without Jack O'Neil as the lead it wasn't really the same. However, I must say they did a good job. The reason for the change was Richard Dean Anderson, aka Jack, left the set to spend time with his daughter. So, you'll see him in a few episodes but never full time again.So, all in all transitioning directly from SG-1 season 8 to 9 is a shock. You lose Richard Dean Anderson, AKA Jack, without much to go on. Everything changes, and you're left looking at it like the directors destroyed the series. Please, trust me that they didn't. I was extremely pissed when I first entered season 9, but having watched all of SG-1, SGA, and SGU, I understand they've done pretty well.Please, first time viewers of SG-1 take a breather, and come back. Even if you have loved this series up to now, like me, you'll still wish things were better, first time through. It isn't until you take the breather, come back, and better understand, that you watch and try to understand this first episode better that you actually learn to adjust to the changes given. From there the series isn't actually as bad as you would think this season.Overall, I wanted to make sure you guys all understand. This season really is excellent, but you have to be willing to have patience.So, please, give this season a chance, and keep going til' the end.Enjoy guys.Remember, take a breath.
