It is also not recommended for high sediment applications without a pre-filter for the same reason. The small post filter could plug more quickly than the capacity of the carbon is exhausted. The filter in this size that we recommend is the Pentek rfc-bb radial flow carbon filter. Careful because there are a lot of imposters advertised as 'compatible.' It is rated to remove chlorine taste and odor for more than 50,000 gallons at 2 gpm as compared with the GAC-BB which is rated at 12,500 gallons. It also has a lower pressure drop (0.9 psi at 2 gpm compared to 4 psi at 2 gpm.) I'm looking for a 0.5 micron filter to remove cysts** A: A 6 micron filter will not remove 0.5 micron cysts. You need a sub-0.5 micron filter to remove 0.5 micron cysts. **Q: Why doesn't this have a Micron rating?** A: This cartridges uses loose fill granular activated carbon media.
