This knock-style wooden lead holder was created for those who prefer the feel of a wooden hexagonal pencil while enjoying the convenience and the advantage of a mechanical pencil. The lead holder has a natural wood body of premium American Cedar with its rich warm wood finish. The barrel diameter is slightly larger than a regular pencil to accommodate for adult hands. Its light weight and excellent balance make it easy to use for long periods without fatigue. The well-engineered clutch will hold the 2mm lead securely in place without slipping, no matter how much pressure is put on the lead. Located on top is a simple mushroom shaped knock button to release and return the lead back into the holder. The high-quality, Japan-made #1 B black lead is crafted by uniformly mixing pure graphite and clay, to achieve the ultimate resilience to breaking and the perfect smoothness. One 2mm #1 pencil lead is already included inside the holder. A unique and convenient lead sharpener is also included, which features a leaf shaped spring that has four cutting edges instead of a single blade. You can sharpen the lead by twisting it from left to right. Perfect for writing, sketching and drawin, etc. Available in natural wood color, indigo (blue) and madder (red). Refill leads are available in packs of 5 in a sturdy cylindrical cardboard holder. ## Features - Wooden mechanical pencil with the look and feel of a classic wooden pencil / Natural Wood Barrel - Hexagonal wooden holder made of premium American Cedar (eco-tree) - 2mm, No 1 pencil black lead (#1 B) included / A unique and convenient lead sharpener included - 2011 JAPAN STATIONERY OF THE YEAR Awarded - Lead refills available / Made in Japan ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Additional Features | Refillable | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Asin | B005N3NQHS | | Best Sellers Rank | #22,585 in Office Products (See Top 100 in Office Products) #196 in Mechanical Pencils | | Body Shape | Hexagonal | | Brand Name | Kitaboshi | | Closure Type | Button | | Color | Natural Wood | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (442) 4.7 out of 5 stars | | Drill Point | Medium | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04972572199528, 07931875412670 | | Grip Type | Hexagonal | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Hardness | F | | Included Components | Mechanical Pencil | | Ink Color | Black | | Item Diameter | 2 millimeters | | Item Dimensions | 8.1 x 2.1 x 0.4 inches | | Item Type Name | Kitaboshi 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil, Wooden Barrel, With Lead Sharpener, #1 B, Black Lead, 1ea (OTP-680NST) | | Item Weight | 0.03 kg | | Line Size | 2 millimeters | | Manufacturer | Kita-boshi Pencil, Co, Ltd. | | Material Type | Wood | | Model Name | pencil | | Model Number | OTP-680NST | | Recommended Uses For Product | School | | Style | Mechanical Pencil 2mm with Sharpener | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Upc | 793187541267 | | Writing Instrument Form | Mechanical Graphite Pencil | | Writing Technique | pencil lead | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** Adult - **Brand:** Kitaboshi - **Color:** Natural Wood - **Ink Color:** Black - **Writing Instrument Form:** Mechanical Graphite Pencil ## Images ![2.0mm Mechanical Pencil, Wooden Barrel, With Lead Sharpener, #1 B, Black Lead, 1ea (OTP-680NST), natural wood color w/sharpener - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71W4h-q96xL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this hold the Niji colored leads (Yasutomo & Company)?** A: For as long as they are 2.0mm in diameter, you will have no problem. The Pencil is quite large in length, so far it has accommodated all the leads in my stash: Steadtler, Uni Mitusbishi, Rotring and Maruzen Arts. **Q: How many pencils do you get? what color leads?** A: Its just one pencil and a peice of HB lead. It comes with its own lead sharpener wich is nice since it won't fit in to a barrel Sharpener. **Q: Do these come in other colors, particularly metallic colors?!** A: Not metallic. This is a wooden lead holder, meaning it’s meant to be appreciated as that. There are colored versions available from Kitaboshi and another brand called Penco **Q: Will this work with prismacolor turquoise lead refills?** A: No. It will not. For some reason the Turquoise 2mm leads are ever so slightly thinner than other 2mm leads (I know, I know... 2mm should be 2mm) and they fall right out. It works fine with other 2mm leads I have tried. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolute Masterpiece for Artists and Sketchers *by on Reviewed in the United States June 1, 2026* If you love the warm, nostalgic feel of a traditional wooden pencil but crave the modern convenience and consistency of a mechanical lead holder, the Kitaboshi is the absolute holy grail. The first thing you notice is the body. It is crafted from beautiful, lightweight American incense cedar, giving it that authentic, organic pencil feel and a subtle, pleasant wood aroma. It sits beautifully in the hand, offering a low-fatigue drawing experience that heavy metal or cheap plastic holders simply cannot replicate.Mechanically, it operates on a precise click-advance system rather than a drop-clutch, meaning the lead advances securely by a millimeter with each click—no accidental drop-outs or broken graphite on your desk. The factory-installed B lead is unbelievably smooth, buttery, and responsive, gliding effortlessly across the paper without hitting any scratchy impurities. It yields beautiful, rich mid-tones and blends flawlessly for global value work.As an extra bonus, the matching minimal lead pointer included in the cap works like a charm, letting you achieve a needle-sharp point completely mess-free. It’s an incredibly elegant, minimalist tool that brings the pure joy back to analog drawing.Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their studio workspace! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An adult's pencil that is a delight to use! *by on Reviewed in the United States July 28, 2017* The packaging states that this is a "Pencil for Adults" -or so I read, and that statement defines in part what this mechanical pencil is all about. Compared to the more common 2.0mm lead holder variants, this pencil is longer -almost the size of a regular ferruled pencil- and a tiny bit thicker. The clutch mechanism has lead advancement as opposed to drop type; it has no sharpener or eraser integrated (thou a somewhat portable sharpener is included in the package), but the wood body is what really sets it apart. It has a smooth finish, a lovely texture and a nice pink-shaded color to it. Along with the mushroom-like lead advancement button up top and the metal cone on the tip, both with a nice chrome finish, makes for very elegant writing instrument that looks far more expensive than it really is.It's got a nice and solid feel while holding and writing and there is not a single part that rattles or shakes. The provided B-grade lead is very smooth and dark (it's even darker than some Western 2B leads) which makes it great for writing in a journal or a diary. Obviously you can also sketch with this pencil, but I don't recommend it as a drafting pencil substitute. It's simply not designed for this. The wood finish is very delicate and can get dents, scratches or tiny bits lost -specially around the body's end below the button- if you're not careful, so I would not recommend this pencil for kids or youngsters. As stated in the packaging -it's an Adult's pencil! The included sharpener gets you a nice diamond-like point on the lead, just not very sharp. It has an integrated reservoir for the shavings and it's got a cap so you can take it along. Personally I prefer my Uni 2mm lead sharpener which gives a much sharper point and it's much smaller. This lead pencil is also sold under the Penco Brand in a series called "Prime Timber 2.0" that comes in the same packaging with the same sharpener; the only difference being the two-tone color paint over the wood. Considering is also more expensive, I would definitely recommend going for this, the original Kita-Boshi. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The wood mechanical pencil (a little fragile if not handle with care but well made) ✨ *by on Reviewed in the United States May 26, 2026* The feel of the kitaboshi itself feels like real wood and it is! just it is polished and well made to make it more smooth to the touch as for the design is so appealing and attractive…. The lead doesn’t disappoint because I can tell very easily it is the same manufacturer of the Mitsubishi lead graphite maker and it is so smooth and buttery. I love it 🥰 Japan knows well when it comes to products such as stationary for school or art stuff or other thing for home or utilities they go above and beyond. I wish the USA could do that to but is limited in that front…. Over all 8 out of 10 I highly recommend anyone regardless if you are a collector or an enthusiast or something else you must have it. Is so stylish and beautiful 💖 ## Frequently Bought Together - Kitaboshi 2.0mm Mechanical Pencil, Wooden Barrel, With Lead Sharpener, #1 B, Black Lead, 1ea (OTP-680NST), natural wood color w/sharpener - Kitaboshi Holder Refill, 2mm HB, 5 Leads (OTP-150HB)×3 Pack/total 15 Leads (Japan Import) [Komainu-Dou Original Package] - Mitsubishi Pencil Pocket Sharpener DPS6001P For Sharpener Uni 2.0mm Wick Holder --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.kg/products/7382248-2-0mm-mechanical-pencil-wooden-barrel-with-lead-sharpener-1](https://www.desertcart.kg/products/7382248-2-0mm-mechanical-pencil-wooden-barrel-with-lead-sharpener-1) --- *Product available on Desertcart Kyrgyzstan* *Store origin: KG* *Last updated: 2026-10-30*
