UPDATE: After owning and using this dish washing wand for several weeks, I regret that I must update my review. I've reduced the rating by 1 star because it does, in fact, allow water to 'backwash' into the wand handle. Unlike the others I have owned in the past this one holds the soap in and doesn't leak out. Am still using the same cleaning head that I put on when I purchased this as like others I have owned, this one is more durable and doesn't get worn out as easily. Works very well and very easy to use.
