I think I could drop it on concrete and it wouldn't break (haven't tried). But that's all it is really. I see absolutely no reason why this would be "smell proof." There's nothing fancy about the seal or lid at all that I can tell; in fact, it easily gets bits around the top edge of the jar and threads so I can't imagine why it would be smell proof at all. I use it for pipe tobacco ... because doobie smokers get better toys than pipe smokers these days ... I mean, Dunhill of London doesn't have a nice little 3 1/2" jar that I can keep my Navy Flake in. Also, the zipper case is extra credit since that is extra nice; I didn't need a zipper case, but I use it anyway since it's so luxurious. Finally, it was kind of dirty when it arrived; it was still covered with some kind of wax -- maybe it was the mold release compound or something, but it required a good, vigorous polishing with a rag before first use. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Finely ground herbs will leak out of lid *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2018* The jar is overall nice and the padded case it comes with is very nice but the big problem with the jars is if you have finely ground herbs the lid doesn't seal well and they will get out and around the threads. If those herbs smell then they won't be contained in the jar anymore and thus neither will the smell. Compared to the Masterdam jars of the same size and shape, these aren't as nice. Again the little bonus things it comes with are nice but I honestly doubt I'll ever use them. Turns out the zippers and the leather case do not mix. The cases have fallen apart on all 4 jars.
