Made in Finland. Review: Excellent mid-range dive computer - Very happy with this watch. It looks nice (really like the copper look), fits well (could be my daily watch even though it isn't), and does what it's supposed to do in the water and out. We live in Hawaiʻi and we snorkel and free dive most weekends, and scuba occasionally. This is my first dive watch, and it's exceeded my expectations so far. When I first got it, I thought the display seemed dim. The truth is, it's not a bright display, but it shows up great in the sunlight, and in low light it's plenty bright. In free dive mode, it's really fun to see how deep each dive is and for how long I'm down below. It's handy to see the ring around the top change to give me an idea of whether I'm ready to dive again (in truth, I don't know that this is necessary, but I'm always happy to get more information rather than less). After the outings, the app is useful to review the day's activities, which sync almost immediately and automatically. The graphs for each dive are interesting, showing location, depth, time, temperature, etc. And of course, you can add a variety of other information for each dive, like exposure protection used, environmental considerations, dive buddies, marine encounters, etc. It might seem like overkill that the watch logs every single time you dive down while snorkeling, but at the same time, why not? I haven't personally used it yet for scuba, but my wife has (mine hadn't arrived in time for our most recent dive) and she was likewise very happy with it. The display was easily readable at depth, and clearly communicated the information you're looking for with a dive computer. At some point I'd like to add tank transmitters to my kit, but don't have those yet. The battery lasts for days if not in dive mode. In dive mode, of course it has a shorter life, but still plenty for multiple excursions in a day. Just charge it before you go out. The watch menu system is relatively easy to navigate. In a world of touch screens, it can feel a little tedious using buttons to navigate menus, but it works. It's a lot better than my older dive computer that's integrated into my BCD. My only complaint is notifications. When we first got our watches we used the app to turn off notifications on the watch, but it didn't work. We'd turn them off in the app's settings, then go back into the settings to confirm that they were off, and we'd find that they were on again. We found that we had to turn them off on the watch itself, using the watch's menu system. That at least got the watch to shutup every time our phones received a notification. But ultimately I had to disable all notifications on my phone as well through the Android system settings because I couldn't stop my phone from getting basically a persistent notification informing me that the watch was connected. I don't need to know that my phone is connected to my watch, and frankly I don't need it to connect to my watch constantly because I don't use it for my daily wear. Bottom line: there are plenty of other dive watches with more advanced features but for a recreational diver like me, the Suunto D5 is great! Review: Its ok. - Works pretty good, but the watch is not very good for transitioning to other functions. Also the calibration for the compass could be better.
