Its what you need - The Petzl GriGri is the most tried and true climbing belay device on the modern market. It's usable in most forms of climbing and makes it very easy even for beginners to learn good belay technique. Its widespread adoption speaks to its proven performance in real-world situations. The cam lock is smooth and grabs every time you need it to, but slides freely when you need to feed slack. The brake release lever is solid and very responsive, obviously important. The build quality is to a very high standard and my first one lasted me a very long time before I retired it just to be safe. (It still worked as intended). If you're looking for a trusty climbing companion that will catch you when you fall, GriGri is the way to go! Review: Awesome - Love it. Even trained my daughters to use it. Very functional ## Features - 100% Aluminium - Imported - ASSISTED BLOCKING: Features a cam-assisted blocking system that improves belaying comfort; when the climber falls or weights the rope, the cam pivots to pinch and block the rope automatically. - BROAD COMPATIBILITY: Compatible with all single dynamic ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm (optimized for 8.9 to 10.5 mm); ideal for both gym and outdoor rock climbing. - SMOOTH LOWERING: The ergonomic handle allows you to easily unblock the rope and lower someone; the progressive cam action ensures a smooth, controlled descent. - INTUITIVE DESIGN: Rope installation diagrams are engraved on both the interior and exterior of the device to minimize the risk of error; uses standard belay techniques. - LIGHTWEIGHT & DURABLE: Constructed with aluminum side plates and a stainless steel cam/friction plate for durability; weighs only 175 g. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07MLTP3S4 | | Best Sellers Rank | #14,471 in Sports & Outdoors ( See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors ) #2 in Climbing Belay & Rappel Equipment | | Brand Name | PETZL | | Color | Blue | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars (1,548) | | Date First Available | January 7, 2019 | | Included Components | See the description | | Item Dimensions LxWxH | 8 x 5 x 2 inches | | Item Package Dimensions L x W x H | 5.35 x 2.99 x 2.01 inches | | Item Weight | 175 g | | Manufacturer | Petzl | | Material | Aluminum, Nylon, Stainless Steel | | Model Name | Grigri | | Model Year | 2018 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Package Weight | 0.21 kg | | Part Number | D014BA02 | | Size | UNI | | Sport Type | Camping & Outdoor | | Style | Grigri | | Suggested Users | unisex | | Warranty Description | 3 year manufacturer warranty | ## Product Details - **Brand:** PETZL - **Color:** Yellow - **Fit Type:** Universal - **Material:** Aluminum, Nylon, Stainless Steel - **Product Care Instructions:** Hand Wash Only ## Images ![PETZL GRIGRI Rock Climbing Belay Device - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61kfRMRS5KS.jpg) ![PETZL GRIGRI Rock Climbing Belay Device - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71SEKtA3cqL.jpg) ![PETZL GRIGRI Rock Climbing Belay Device - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61rIZlEX6lL.jpg) ![PETZL GRIGRI Rock Climbing Belay Device - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61pJ3KOcSYL.jpg) ![PETZL GRIGRI Rock Climbing Belay Device - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91h3Qp04c6L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this work with Petzl Flow rope?** A: Technically it is out of spec - Flow rope is 11.6mm and the Petzl Rig is rated for rope to max rope size of 11.5mm **Q: Will this work with 12mm rope?** A: Petzl states the RIG is compatible with 10 to 11.5mm ropes. I would recommend the Petzl RACK for a 12mm rope for long descents. Most other rope access descenders are made for 10 to 11.5mm ropes as well. **Q: Is this G rated?** A: It is not G rated only NFPA 1983 Technical Use because it will not take a big enough rope size etc.. **Q: Do you have it in black?** A: Not right now ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable, easy, safe.
