Review: Brilliant - Great alert... I add a tbsp water first to wet bottom of pan & also wet the glass disc under the tap - picked this idea up from others and it seems to stop milk and disc from sticking and then burning. I make yogurt by first not quite boiling milk (91-93C) - so no more burnt pans wasted burnt milk or boiling over. Medium heat , stir the disc round a bit with whisk every so often. Then rapid cool by putting pan in basin of cold water. Could be my imagination but boiling milk seems quicker with the glass disc. My mother had one of these - good to find they’re still around.

**Q: Does it work in a microwave?**
A: I only use mine on the stove top. However I use pyrex dishes in the microwave. I would therefore think it would be safe in microwave.

A: Yes, it is made out of the same glass as other pyrex products and it works very well indeed

**Q: How do you actually use it?**
A: You simply put it at the bottom of your milk pan.  And then, when your milk has come to a boil. it will not rise and overflow from the pan, but instead it will make a kind of a rattling sound that alerts you that teh milk has come to a boil.  This is great if you are multi tasking in teh kitchen and forget to keep an eye on the milk.  No more spilt milk.  But watch out - never wash the ring while it is still hot, it it will crack.  Just let it cool on its own and then wash it.

**Q: Is this brand either/or (i) 'Pirex' as stated in ad text (ii) well-known brand 'Pyrex' as shown in ad photo. Is it defo made of borosilicate glass?**
A: It's marked PYREX France. It copes with boiling milk on a hob so I assume it is borosilicate glass though it doesn't say that on the item. It might have said so on the packaging which I no longer have. If not borosilicate glass what else might it be?

Excellent product for stopping your milk from boiling over. We make our own yogurt regularly, so we need to raise the temperature of the milk to 85 degrees. This item stops the milk boiling over.
