It was shipped and sold by amazon so I was mostly confident. Upon arrival it was very thin. However, give it 4 days to fully fluff. It is great, very comfortable and good value for what I paid. I got the black which will not stain if liquid spills on sheets. I do not recommend sleeping on a futon without a fitted and top sheet, a double layer to keep it sanitary. My only complaint is the box was sealed with a single layer of tape on each end and was almost torn open. Thanks, amazon. ### ⭐ Disgusting. (I also seem to have not gone through reviews thoroughly enough before buying.) First, 8-inches is generous, the depth is under 7". Worse, the "memory foam" is two thin sheets of packing foam surrounded by a rat's nest of lord-knows-what for stuffing, not fit for a dog bed. To be clear, this is *NOT* the traditional memory foam I'm used to seeing in mattress stores. The zippered case would be a convenient way to wash the cover, however you would never be able to remove it and keep the mattress intact. I've included pictures to illustrate.By far the worst thing is something I can't describe in pictures or even words: the smell. It's disgusting and the odor pervaded our house within a few minutes of unwrapping. Imagine the wold's most disgusting bum and he's on a hash and opium vacation, with the sporadic amorous session with his patchouli-drenched girlfriend. And they're burning cheap incense. This mattress retained their scent and then someone put the mattress on Amazon. That's what it smells like.In all seriousness, the fumes were extremely concerning and this was immediately relegated to the garage for return pick-up. I would NEVER let my child or his friends sleep on the mattress. And then the REAL fun began as we're trying to figure out how to get it back into the box.The real winner here is me (?) because it cost me about $10 in return shipping to learn the valuable lesson that we don't buy furniture on Amazon.
