The 21 inch fixture lighting will cover all of a 24 inch cabinet. I have 5 fixtures and a combination of the nominal 33 and 21 inch. If you are successful in cutting, think about future parts replacement???? Having both fixtures is no problem as the two need both sizes of replacement bulbs. Suggestion look into LED lighting. If I could convert I would do so as we use the under cabinet lighting a lot and replace several bulbs a year.
