Susie Cooper: an elegant affair is a scintillating insight into the life of the legendary ceramic designer. With an attention to detail in both text and image finding itself a perfect distance from obsequiousness to be considered a true homage to an artist noted for her elegant yet functional, innovative designs.I have been fortunate enough to have the author sign my copy, accompanied by a brief message which itself is a concise reflection of the humble, cordial character of the author.I feel somewhat sad that the dedication invested in this book doesn’t appear to have achieved the level of acclaim that the subject enjoyed, somewhat apparent from the number of withdrawals from it’s former home in a library. To summarise, a fascinating account of the works of an industry leader, remarkably well-penned and accompanied by a plethora of astounding images. A true injustice that this book isn’t in every house in the land.Although that might be because it’s f***ing massive.
